Just not profitable, apparently.

TransCanada says it’s cancelling Energy East, Eastern Mainline pipeline projects

CALGARY — TransCanada says it's cancelling plans for the Energy East pipeline and Eastern Mainline projects.

The Calgary-based company said previously that it was suspending its efforts to get regulatory approvals for the mega projects.

Energy East was conceived as a way to ship Alberta oilsands production as far east as Saint John, New Brunswick.

TransCanada says it will inform the National Energy Board that it will no longer be proceeding with its applications for both pipelines.

It's also going to withdraw from a Quebec environmental review.

See, your problem is you're a moron. Profit wasn't the problem. A clueless Justin Trudeau, a selfish Quebec Premier and several mayors in and around Montreal killed the pipeline. Good job, now we're stuck importing Saudi oil from an oppressive regime all because the dumbf*ck in Ottawa wants to play the Virtue Signaling Game while some worthless froggies who had no problem dumping billions of litres of raw sewage into the St. Lawrence play stupid political games. Once again, the federal govt allows Quebec to completely f*ck over the East Coast.

Of course we could route all the oil trains through Lac Megantic to drive the point home.

Bad news for the rest of us. Especially Eastern Canada which will have to rely on imported oil.
Now would be a good time to force an end to equalization payments to Ontario and Quebec.
It is good news for a strong and proud Canadian family , the Irvings .

Expect the already-decimated mfg sector to deteriorate further... Cost of power to increase in costs especially as the carbon tax is forced into the picture.

As mentioned, I suspect that TCPL is retracting the project proposal at this time as it will have an impact on the Fed election in the next couple of years.

Funny though, the CPP and Ontario Teachers pension are both heavily invested in TCPL.... Looks like a double-whammy

Don't worry.

This is a fantastic opportunity for TransCanada to go renewable!
