For the first time since the “Abscam” scandal 36 years ago, a sitting U.S. senator will go on trial for bribery on Wednesday in a federal courthouse. Bob Menendez, a Democrat from New Jersey, is accused of intervening with federal officials on behalf of a wealthy benefactor in exchange for lavish gifts, including luxury vacations and major political contributions.

....and that burn is NOT covered by the Affordable Care Act. :icon_smile:__________________________

And it appears Mr. Singh certainly does "pick and choose" his hate:

From the Toronto Sun:

"I frankly don’t care whether Singh is Sikh or Muslim. What I do care about is his highly selective definition of hate and his double standard when it comes to free speech.

Evidently the deputy leader of the Ontario NDP didn’t feel the least bit compelled last December to “stand united” with all members of the Ontario legislature against the hateful Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement.
Singh was not only one of the few MPPs to vote against Motion 36, which rejected the differential treatment of Israel, including the BDS movement.
He also spoke out against the motion, using the predictable weasel words employed by the left (particularly politicians on the left) that any such motion would impact on the “free expression of dissent.”
Well hello! Mr. Singh, what do you think M-103 is all about and what do you think you’ve done in the past few days by reducing Bush’s legitimate questions to “hateful and Islamophobic” comments — a depiction absolutely lapped up by the left-wing media?"

NDP leadership hopeful Jagmeet Singh selective when protecting freedom of speech

Jagmeet Singh is a great leader, I wish him all the best in his aim for the NDP leadership. I’m pretty sure he will win. He is a charismatic and exciting politician, the other three candidates are unimpressive. Caron and Angus don’t stand a chance in making a dent in the GTA considering Trudeau’s immense popularity here. Ashton is too much of a radical and lacks national appeal. Only Jagmeet Singh can carry the NDP and move it more closer to the center, perhaps even edging out the Conservatives. The thing I like about Jagmeet is his story of standing up to racism, as he did in his most recent event here in Brampton. I too live in Brampton, and I can tell you that here our community is really excited and looks forward to Jagmeet becoming the first South Asian, indeed non-White, Prime Minister of Canada.

Harper would absolutely adore Jagmeet's position on religious freedom and immigration.

You gotta be a stupid Dreamer!!

Anyone who carries a rag on their heads to help make thru the day is obviously a very insecure individual, as all Sikhs are.

Sikhs are useless by the very nature they need a crutch to get them thru the day, Sikhs have never been able to make large contributions to Canada and they can only prosper if they are riding on the coat tails of someone else.

Last I checked with the Sikhs in BC they were still striving to build their own country,,,,,now that shows how stupid they are.

I'm new to this forum, but have just read the rule "no personal attacks" and this is definitely a personal attack, so I'm flagging it and reporting it. This will also tell me whether this discussion board implements its own rules or will be selective and give a pass to White people.

It does give them a pass but that just makes the challenge of educating them more fun, no?

And yet you are more than willing to defend Neo Nazis who say the same thing cuz free speech.

Defend them?

I don't defend them.

But they have every right to speak just like selfsame does. As long as it is within our Charter of Rights.

I don't know what he got banned for, it must have been bad. Like real bad compared to what he usually says.

Section 1 of the Charter, the Reasonable Limits Clause, qualifies the right to free speech, and is the basis for anti-hate speech laws and likewise laws against obscenity and public nudity. When the purpose and objective of giving people freedom of speech is understood properly, in its proper context, it becomes evident why racist hate speech cannot be included as part of freedom of speech.

Take the Mosque protests during February in Toronto. The people weren't charged en masse with hate crimes because they had an opinion of religion, Islam.

Most of everything people protesting in this country about, is about religion, what are you saying? That people shouldn't have the right to criticize religion? Should we not have the right to say that Sharia Values are not equal to Western Values?

But Canada did charge an imam for hate speech because of his whole "Death to the Jews" act.
