It doesn't take much rain to fluster Toronto............

Rain pounds Toronto, strands commuters on GO train

Toronto police and firefighters have rescued some 1,400 people from a commuter train that had become stranded on tracks — with water up to the windows — after a record rainfall pounded the city and slowed the evening commute.

A month's worth of rain fell on Toronto in just a few hours, creating flash flooding and leaving some tracks that GO Trains use covered in water.

Environment Canada said that some parts of the Greater Toronto Area were hit with more than 90 millimetres of rain on Monday. In some cases, the weather agency said the total would exceed 100 millimetres. The monthly average for Toronto is 74.4 millimetres.

You are grasping at straws. Toronto is not located in the Grand Canyon.

If you drained Lake Ontario, it would sure look like it's beside it.

This was the start of the conversation.

Not quite deep enough. Ontario is one of the shallower of the Great Lakes and the drop would be gradual, not sudden.

Not according to Post # 31! :)

B.S. was incorrect in post #31 but that doesn't change the topic was originally about the Grand Canyon.

Ummmmmmmmmm NO! The topic was originally about Houston and Toronto! :)

I'm not quite sure W.T.F. Toronto has anything to do with this situation anymore than say Calgary, Winnipeg or Yellowknife! :) :)

The original discussion was quite stupid but this fork was clearly about the GC. You can't really expect topics on CC to stay on topic can you?

If Houston had been built on a slope of a hill, water would naturally have returned to the ocean.
While some regions of Houston were swamps and depressed regions in which the flood water was trapped.

Your original reply..........................."Water does flow away you know, and Houston got 1000 mm not 50 meters."......................Not a peep about the Grand Canyon. :) :) :)

The nice thing about forums is that you can backtrack your original post. Check post #31. And then stop trying to weasel out of your error.

Hurricane Irma is heading straight for Eastern Florida as a Category 4 storm. A relative of mine is skidaddling out of there to come and stay with us. I'd say that she's getting one of the last flights out of Ft. Lauderdale.

The facts

Depth
283 ft / 86 m average
802 ft / 244 m maximum
https://www.glerl.noaa.gov/education/ourlakes/lakes.html

You'll note the relativity steep drop off shore, and the total depth is actually quite deep.
and it looks like Ontario is the second deepest (average) great lake after Lake Superior

Somebody was making stuff up again.
:(

It's steep and deep and practically shoal free. There are deadly shallow places (you can always tell those by the rusting Scotch Boilers stranded on the top) around Main Duck Island and nearer to Kingston but the sides are STEEP everywhere else.
