It does not mean Muslims are exempted from God's punishment; none is exempted; so man should ward off the disobedience particularly and before everything else: avoid the atheism, disbelief, idolatry, wrong-doing, transgression and the other commandments contradiction.

E.g. even prophets are punished in a way or another .. like Prophet David when he sent the captain in his army to a dangerous battle so that he might be killed and then he would marry his widow following his killing .. of course he waited until her 'idda' or the prescribed period for marriage and then he married her .. this was a disobedience, but Prophet David repented at once and did not insist on his sin like sinners .. then Prophet David was punished .. his first son died (before the birth of Solomon)

Also Prophet Mohammed was threatened by God lest he might relent or yield to the suggestions of the idolaters and accept a compromise request; so Prophet Mohammed at once refused their request and ordered all the idols be broken up; refer to
this aya and its explanation:
Quran 17: 73-75, which mean:

73. The [associaters or idolaters] were about to tempt you [Mohammed] away from [the commandment] that We revealed to you; so that you might forge against Us other [words, and say: God commanded that.]

They – then – would certainly take you as their dear friend [because you would grant them what they want.]

74. And had We not confirmed you [Mohammed], surely you were about to incline to them a little bit.

75. In that case [if you had responded to their request], We would have let you taste a double [portion of the punishment] of living and a double [portion of the punishment] of dying; and moreover you would not have had – against Us – any helper.

http://quran-ayat.com/pret/17.htm#a17_74
<quran-ayat.com/pret/17.htm#a17_74>

And Moses was warned by God so as he would not listen to the hypocrites among his people.
And Noah was warned by God that he should not intercede for the idolaters even to his son Canaan.
And Jonah was punished when the whale engulfed him so as to swallow him, but he repented and was pardoned.
And Jesus was instructed that he should remember God's grace on him.
And Abraham was told to desist from disputing about the punishment of the people of Lot.

There is no God.. f*ck off already.

Northern Ontario,
Storms are 'cold' weather events. If Global Warming was really happening we should be seeing a moderating of extreme weather. Anthropogenic Global Warming changed its moniker to 'Climate Change' so it could claim ANY event was a result of human carbon emission without a sliver of proof beyond their contrived computer models. It's a scam. If there is really more extreme weather than in previous decades its likely a result of periodic and cyclical cooling phase of the climate.
Al Gore still doesn't have the power this guy has but he has managed to convert B00mer....
Unless he just trolling.....

God is doing such punishment and you deny: sooner you will be worse than them.
I find the best description of you and your group: hard-hearted.

Quran 6: 43, which means:
{ If only, when Our might [: a drought or a plague] came on them, they had supplicated [God and had repented, He would have pardoned them.]

But their hearts grew hard [against repentance and supplication] and Satan made their [evil] deeds fair-seeming to them.}

NEW YORK — The NHL and the NHL Players’ Association are making a joint donation of US$200,000 to aid relief efforts in the Houston area as tropical storm Harvey has caused intense flooding and damage.
The money will be split evenly between the American Red Cross and Habitat for Humanity.
The joint statement from the league and the players’ association said the donation to the American Red Cross will support shelters and the distribution of food and supplies, while the donation to Habitat for Humanity will support the rebuilding of lost and damaged homes.
The storm has displaced tens of thousands of Texans, and rebuilding is expected to cost in the tens of billions of dollars.

NEW YORK — Houston rapper Bun B and music manager Scooter Braun are planning a benefit concert to help those affected by Tropical Storm Harvey.
A representative for Bun B told The Associated Press on Wednesday that the rapper is working with Braun, who manages Justin Bieber and produced Ariana Grande’s massive benefit show in June in Manchester, England.
The rep said Braun “is actively working on gathering talent and organizing logistics for the event.” The rep added that the benefit is tentatively scheduled to air on four national networks on Sept. 12.
No more details were provided.
Harvey has devastated South Texas and on Wednesday hit southwestern Louisiana. At least 18 people have died, and countless residents are displaced from their homes. Warnings and watches have been dropped for nearly all of Texas, except Sabine Pass. The Texas Department of Public Safety says more than 48,700 homes have been affected by flooding and other damage brought by Harvey since it first came ashore last week.
Bun B, one of hip-hop’s most respected lyricists, has been a proud Houston entertainer for years. He was part of the Grammy-nominated rap duo UGK with the late rapper Pimp C, launching hits like “International Players Anthem (I Choose You)” with Outkast and “Big Pimpin”’ with Jay Z. Bun B has also collaborated with fellow Houston native Beyonce and is a visiting lecturer at Rice University in Houston.
Braun, who manages Grande, Tori Kelly and Carly Rae Jepsen, has also worked with Kanye West, the Black Eyed Peas and “Gangnam Style” rapper PSY. Braun also founded School Boy Records.

Hurricane Harvey victim in Beaumont, TX accidentally reaches out to Beaumont, AB as worker jumps into action

BEAUMONT, Alta. — Shiva Kumar Shunmugam was wrapping up a lazy summer afternoon tending to social media feeds for the Alberta town of Beaumont when a strange request came into the fire hall’s Facebook page.
“Terrell houses are flooding need help,” it said.
Beaumont, Alta., a town of about 18,000 just south of Edmonton, doesn’t have a Terrell neighbourhood and the area hadn’t seen a drop of rain in almost a week.
Shunmugam quickly realized he was dealing with someone in Beaumont, Texas, a community not far from Houston, that has a Terrell Avenue and was hit by Hurricane Harvey.
A woman near Dallas was seeking a rescue for her daughter’s family of four who had floodwater rushing into their Beaumont home.
In her frantic search for help, the mother mistakenly happened upon the page for the fire department in Beaumont, Alta., 3,800 kilometres away.
Shunmugam swung into action.
“Without wasting time I got in touch with emergency services in Beaumont, Texas, and they directed me to the Beaumont fire department in Texas,” he said in a interview Wednesday. “Since they didn’t have much information, they were relying on me to provide the correct address.”
Shunmugam was able to link up with the daughter and relay the details, but the rescue was slow in coming.
As the day stretched into evening, Shunmugam stayed in touch with the daughter.
She told him there were snakes and spiders seeking refuge from the water in her backyard. He passed along some helpful survival tips, such as turning off her phone’s data to preserve battery life.
As evening stretched into night, she told Shunmugam her family was going to try to drive out of the neighbourhood. Shunmugam got in touch with the authorities in Texas who advised against that, so the family pulled over in a parking lot and waited.
From there, the two lost touch.
“Trust me, I didn’t have sleep all night thinking about and praying about her and the other people who are going through a similar situation,” Shunmugam said.
As night stretched into morning, he finally heard back from the woman’s mother.
The family was safe at an emergency shelter.
“She thanked me for that and she’s at Beaumont Civic Center right now,” he said. “I think it is a good way to see that kindness exists and we should live by that code of loving thy neighbour and helping them.
“I live and do that every day and it’s what your everyday Canadian would do.”

Good, solid, smart, compassionate piece of work by Mr. Shunmugam. Wonder if your right-wing contingent would admit that he showed "Canadian values" at their very best.

Video: Houston-area woman films alligators patrolling backyard in aftermath of Hurricane Harvey

Humans aren't the only Texans that have been displaced by Hurricane Harvey’s rising flood waters.
A slew of creatures near Houston also have been uprooted as a result of the storm.
The Houston Chronicle confirmed the authenticity of a video shot by a Missouri City, Tex., woman this week that showed a pair of large alligators patrolling her backyard.
The Chronicle’s Mike Hixenbaugh also warned Texans to avoid floating fire ant colonies when wading through waist-deep water.
As most residents look to avoid the aforementioned displaced wildlife, one Houston man made a game of it.
Houston resident Viviana Saldana found a humorous way to deal with flooding caused by Hurricane Harvey. On Saturday, she posted a series of amusing videos to social media showing a bare-chested man flopping into a foot of water to catch the errant fish.

Many people in the time of distress resort to God Most Gracious and pray Him to save and help them .. this has been good to some extent in some shelters of Texas evacuees .. so not all people are like some atheists here faraway from the catastrophe and they blaspheme and revile God Almighty in spite of this difficult situation.

Be sure that when they will be in a situation like this or worse than this, they will despair and lose their mockery.

Like Pharaoh who till the last hour had been a blasphemer, but in the last moment while he was drowning: he said: Now I have believed in the God of Moses and Aaron.

Harvey horror: Shivering girl, 3, found clinging to drowned mom
Jamie Stengle, THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
First posted: Wednesday, August 30, 2017 02:04 PM EDT | Updated: Wednesday, August 30, 2017 11:33 PM EDT
DALLAS — A shivering three-year-old girl found clinging to the body of her drowned mother in a rain-swollen canal in Southeast Texas was likely saved by her mom’s effort to carry her child to safety from Harvey’s floods, police said Wednesday.
Beaumont police identified the mother as 41-year-old Colette Sulcer and said her daughter was being treated for hypothermia but doing well. When rescuers found the mother and daughter, the girl was on her mother’s back, holding on, said Police Officer Haley Morrow.
“I envision what I would do if that was me in that situation and that’s what I would do: I would put my child on my back and try to swim to safety or whatever,” Morrow said.
Sulcer’s vehicle got stuck Tuesday afternoon in the flooded parking lot of an office park just off Interstate 10, said Capt. Brad Penisson of the fire-rescue department in Beaumont. Squalls from Harvey were pounding Beaumont with up to 2 inches (5 centimetres) of rain an hour with 38 mph (60 kph) gusts, according to the National Weather Service.
A witness saw the woman take her daughter and try to walk to safety when the swift current of a flooded drainage canal next to the parking lot swept them both away, Penisson said.
Morrow said the woman’s actions probably saved her little girl’s life. “When they found her she was still up out of the water,” Morrow said.
A police and fire-rescue team in a boat caught up to them a half-mile downstream from Sucler’s vehicle, according to Penisson. Rescuers pulled them into the boat just before they would have gone under a railroad trestle where the water was so high that the boat could not have followed. First responders lifted the child from her mother’s body and tried to revive the woman, but she never regained consciousness.
A citizen allowed first responders to load the mother and daughter into his truck and he brought them to a waiting ambulance, Morrow said.
The child was taken to the Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, and was expected to be released Wednesday. Officer Carol Riley said the girl was doing “very well” and was chatty.
“Everybody at the hospital and the officers just fell in love with her,” Riley said.
At least 23 people have been killed by Harvey since Friday, when it made landfall in Texas as a Category 4 hurricane. Harvey has since weakened to a tropical storm.
Associated Press writer Terry Wallace contributed to this report.
