How deep are their wells that driving a few piles affects the water? And once all the piles are in how can they cause any long term problems?

Yea, let's bring up even more stuff that has no direct relevance to the topic.

That's real smart, Trumptard.
Says the apologist for extreme left violence. You shit-bag worshipers of violent regimes just love attempting to use dehumanizing labels don't you.
"Progressive" Liberal govt. Ruined well water. Turbines. Did you read the news story or do I have to f*ckng hold your hand for that too, You know, because your "relevant" post about NIMBYism and partisanship had everything to do with ruined water supplies.
It's funny seeing your reactions to being called out for the stupidity you so proudly demonstrate every...single...day.

Would you like some salve for all the butt-hurt?

Love canal
3 mile island
Chernobyl
Fukishima

Love Canal is a hundred plus miles from a nuclear anything. It was a victim of "Better living through chemistry"

3 Mile Island was caused by substandard work on a bargain, cut rate American reactor design that made them lots of dough-re-me before it melted down into a blob..

Fukushima had the same sort of US made cheap junk compounded by an idiotic design that required cooling water to be pumped up hill with electric motors in case of a reactor failure and accompanying electrical blackout

Chernobyl was a primitive graphite regulated Russian hunk of junk that was blown up by a pissed-to-the-gills operator who was so blind drunk, he has no clue what he was doing.

Of course, you know all the this being the well educated farm boy that you are.

so..you don't have a nuclear engineer in the family who worked for hydro at the bruce eh?
you wouldn't say that if you did.

As a matter of fact, I am working with a retired AECL engineer right now.

The turbines are excellent bird choppers. It's been calculated that each turbine kills about 1 million birds every 6 months.

I'm just relieved that we have someone looking out for us regarding those pesky flying critters.... Such a nuisance

That is interesting since it is estimated that all wind turbines in the US kill less than 600 thousand birds each year. Even the most extreme numbers I could find topped out at 40 million. That is still quite a few, but a lot less than the 10 billion your figures work out to. What is your source for the 2 million per generator? I also note that you made no mention of the number of birds killed by fossil fuel emissions or other causes.

You know what kills more birds that wind turbines? Cats, cars, pesticides, buildings.

Now if that isn't a good excuse to kill more birds with something as useless as a wind turbine.
I would guess the exhaust from the NG plants needed with the turbines probably kills a few birds too, but then as they found out in Britain, they only usually come on in winter when the energy is needed most, because the wind doesn't blow much on the coldest days.

SUre wish I could train trees to do that.

You could try dropping them into the truck bed, but that only works once.
:)

My family used to own a marina where all the docks were on piles, which we installed with a driver while building it.
The shock disturbs the clean water flow by causing contamination, and if there is a clay bottom the piles punch through it and can change the water flow and levels in and to the aquifer.

Farmers need lots of clean water to irrigate so it isn't just about their sinks and toilets.

amount of electricity from a turbine.....=?
amount of energy from nuclear reactor....=?

seems like a more worth while trade off...

As far as I know, reactors kill somewhere around 0000.00 birds every year. Even Chernobyl is crawling with wildlife, now.

Bird deaths in the U.S. per year:

Cats: 3,000,000,000
Buildings: 1,000,000,000
Cell towers: 7,000,000
Wind turbines: 300,000

But petros is only worried about the .0006% killed by wind turbines. Which leads a body to wonder if his motivation is really his concern for the widdle birdies.

It's .0006% too many.

Cats, buildings, and cell towers are spread out.

Whirlygig bird massacres are concentrated.

So, because they're spread out, the fact that they kill thousands of times as many birds becomes irrelevant?

You're a special kind of stupid, ain't you?
