Glad the Argos won.

Grey Cup match I hope for each year is Riders vs Argos. Only time I will cheer against the Argos is when they are playing the Roughriders.

They were great in every single area, IRBS - passing, defending, special teams - they had it all and used it today. Can't help but think that your dream of the Argos reaching the Cup this year could very well come true - especially with Marc as their coach. That said, it is way early in the season and we both know what injuries can do to a team - so hope and pray that they stay healthy.

Rickie Ray threw for a career high 506 yards completing 32 of 41 passes and a TD today as the Argos took it to the Ti-Cats all day long. The final: 32 -15

Hamilton's QB Zach Collaros was stymied by the Argo's D on almost every play. At one point in the game, as he was coming off the field you could see Zach complaining about lack of protection to the sidelines coaches. He was not a happy camper and later, in the latter part of the 4th, he somehow managed to hit the uprights as he attempted to connect with a receiver in the end zone. It was that kind of day for the Ti-Cats. Their best play of the day came after Will Hill blocked an attempted punt. The ball fell into the hands of Hamilton's Leonard who took 84 yards for a Ti-Cat TD.

I am so happy to see Marc Trestman back in the CFL. He is the perfect fit for the 30-year-old Rickie Ray considering his record coaching Anthony Calvillo during his years in Montreal. If there was any rust in Rickie's arm today it most certainly was not apparent.

It was a great opening week in the CFL with every single game providing something for the fans to cheer about. Lots of great aerial displays, highlight reel catches and unexpected twists and turns.
Trestman didn't work out for the Ravens, and got fired halfway through the season. His tenure in the NFL wasn't terribly happy. I hope he's more comfortable and successful in the CFL.

Thursday night. . . RBs and Stamps II. Just got me a new bigscreen. Gotta hook it up for the game.

Considering he won back-to-back Grey Cups in 2009 and 2010 with the Montreal Alouettes, I'd say he has an even chance of being successful once again in the CFL.

Still love the Argos, 10 years after i left Toronto. The name from Greek classics, the colours (dark blue of Oxford, light blue of Cambridge), the logo (the football galleon), the motto (pull together).. it all speaks of old school, and is the best imprint in North American professional sports.

Put that with their great new, open, natural grass stadium.. and a coach in Mark Trestman who is tailored to the Canadian game, not so much the NFL (he's got too much imagination and improvisation for that). It should be a great year, and even get the stuffy, spoiled Toronto fans back in the stands.

Hey, as long as all of its symbology is European, it'll be Canada's team!

Cuz Canada's in Europe.

Though I will give you that you have the best second-rate football league in the world (though the Germans might disagree). It's actually slightly better than sleeping through baseball games, and a nice retirement home for aging NFL players and the never-quite-made-its.

I've often thought the NFL should invest, expand the CFL a bit, and make it a semi-official minor league.

You need to get your family, friends and co-workers on the bandwagon, CS - really. The Argos had dismal attendance records last year and for the first game of the season this year - they only managed to attract 13, 583 fans. It must be really disheartening for the Argo players to see such poor support. I realize there are a gazillion other things to do in TO but they also have a very large population. The Argos have to do a better job of promoting the games too - take out some billboards or something - anything to get those stands full of fans cheering on their Argos. IMHO.

The NFL can stay in the states, Tec - don't need that league here and don't want it here (though many Canadian football fans would disagree). I've always found our game to be quicker and more exciting. Yes, we are thankful for NFLers who come North of the border and we will gladly keep accepting them into the league and our hearts. Many of them have chosen to stay here after their careers are over. That too is fine with me.

Considering that you think the CFL is second-rate, that you would bother to watch it all surprises me. Oh and ...........GO Redblacks.

Calgary's defense has been really outstanding tonight. If Ottawa would quit turning the ball over they might have a chance. They were tied 17 all at one point but the Stamps lead 30 to 17 midway through the 3rd.

The RB's couldn't hang on to the ball if it had handles.

Nice run by Madu. Straight up the gut.

The Stamps D is pushing the RBs all over the field.

Damn! TD Redblacks. In a damn hurry too. Harris has no short-term memory. He screws up, he gets hammered, five seconds later he's forgotten all about it and he's back in there, cool and collected.

Kid has composure.

That was something sportscasters picked up on last year, Tec.

There is no give-up in these guys.

I was just scrapping with coldstream. Believe me, I push the CFL. I tell all my NFL fan friends "Can't wait for football? You don't need to. Dial up the CFL. After one half, you'll understand all the rule differences. Then pick a team and start waving your big foam finger."

An errant toss by Bo Levi Mitchell, say Roddie.........he's had a few of those tonight - very uncharacteristic of him.

The RBs defense woke up. Stopping the Stamps but good. For once Spencer didn't rip a lump out of 'em on the return.

AAAArrrgh! Will somebody BLOCK Micah Johnson already?!?!?!

That might have been it. Impressive return for a TD. The spin move, the cutback. Wow. Hate it, but gotta admire it.

And there was me, doubting your allegiance to the Redblacks - for shame. ;-)

Apparently Americans living in the border states love coming up for CFL games. The Riders have a big following in South Dakota. Hundreds of them come up for games, if you can imagine. Our game suits our country, IMHO.

Does a Nigerian count as a Canadian for the roster rules?

Yep, it's big, it's fast, and you have a penalty for "objectionable conduct." Quintessentially Canadian.
