Whoa..........by the skin of our teeth we got the D on 3 and 4.......Grant's catch moves the chains.........Kev's next pass almost intercepted.........gain of 8.............3rd and 2..........and Holley pulls one down for 1rst and 10..........Carter to the 40 and just into Crappy's FG territory.........takes 2 tries on 3 and but the last one gets the D...........they run the clock down to 8 seconds....what was that?? ...........now Marshall gets the ball to the middle of the field and it will all be up to Crappy now.........sheesh.........with 0.0 on the clock the Al's call a time-out .............and he misses from the 45.

Als win.

Ahhhh gees.

My feelings exactly pete.............but on sober second thought, I did see some real promise in this team. I saw a lot of good play calls - good decisions and passes by Kev - good defensive plays and great catches by our receivers. Kev got solid protection for the most part. Our special teams look good but could improve. As always though, they have to play with more discipline because lack of it is going to cost us plenty.

Ah Bless your heart DD...........he just said that the way the game ended was not right - it wasn't but that's football

I'm with Matt, I think both QBs had good solid performances tonight - well save for the fact that Kev threw an interception and DD didn't. Schultzie also made a point of saying that the penalties cost us, as did the first TO.

The low turnovers say plenty for both teams and both need more work on rushing. It's going to be a far better year for the Riders.

I can't wait to park my ass in a seat at the new stadium.

I hear it's the best in the league.

I've seen it in photos and on YouTube, pete...........I believe it does Rider Nation proud.

A lot of people are pissed they never put a roof on it.

Was it due to the extra expense? It would have been a much better venue for a Grey Cup considering what the weather can be like that time of year. Still, it is a fantastic stadium, pete.

Ah............Smilin' Hank, eh. It was probably on sale because he is no longer with the team after winning the Cup last year and retiring in style. He will be much beloved by fans for a long time though.
Heck, I remembered him from two years back, when the RB lost the Cup to the Esks. Somehow I missed last season, in a fit of absentmindedness (that lasted 22 weeks), no doubt.

But the jersey was like 25 bucks and had #1 on it. Close enough. If I get up to Ottawa for a game, I'll fit in.

Go, Heraldically-Incorrect Team With A Circular Saw Blade On Your Helmets!

Just a reminder that your new team will take on the Calgary Stampeders this afternoon at 4:30PM PST on TSN 1, 2, 3 and 4, Tec.

Go Redblacks!

Woo-hoo! ESPN3 for me. And I wish you a bittersweet (and victorious) meeting with DD and the Als.

1-0 doesn't prove much, but it beats the heck out of 0-1.

Then let us hope that in today's game it is the former rather than the latter that proves to be the outcome for the RBs.

RBs hit the board first with a FG late in the 1rst Q.

Trevor Harris is looking good at pivot and the RBs are playing better than the Stamps, IME............Just into the opening seconds of the 2nd, Ottawa puts 6 on the board and after what looked like a botched hand-off, get the ball over the goal line for the 2 points. RBs up 11 zip

Stamps manage FG but are prevented from a major by solid RB defense

Stamps put their first major on the board after what looked like an Ottawa fumble recovery near the goal line. The ball was taken all the way back to the Stamps end zone for what fans thought was a RBs TD. Upon review, the receiver had broken the plane of the goal line prior to fumbling the ball and the Stamps put 6 up - they followed that with a 2-pointer of their own to tie the game 11 - 11.

Now the game gets real interesting.

Can't get it on TV. Following the play-by-play on the RB's website.

Are you not able to find it live online Tec?

Nice pin at the 10 by the RBs punter with just over a minute left in the half.

Lots of confusion on the Stampeders bench tonight.

End of first half: 11 all

Nice to see Canadians doing well in the league.

Can't get it on TSN's website. I'll fool around with it.

Quick.........the RBs just got another TD!

This is a good game, Tec............nice to see the openers are tight games - makes them more exciting.

10:18 in the 4th and the RBs rack up another TD after a spectacular catch - and the receiver is a hometown guy, sweet.

Maybe you could make yourself one of the those helmets, Tec - a hard hat, black paint and two white capital letters; R and B and away you go. Oh right you can't see the game - but the description of the necessary materials says it all.

I've never read up on the reason for the hard hats, red-checkered shirts and the log-sawing but I'd take a wild guess and say it has something to do with lumber jacks - though what they have to do with football is beyond me.

Really wish you could see the game. The TSN camera crew keeps improving year after year and they really were zeroed in on that last past for the first down from Trevor. The ball looked like it was coming right into my living room before the receiver leapt into view and nabbed the pass.

Calgary got another TD so now the score is 28 - 21 for Ottawa

Lord I wish Rod would quit with his eulogizing of the 2016 Stampeder team - I'm sure the Stamps are waaay past that.

Oh that was a really bad call by the command center...........the receivers knee was not on the ground before the ball was loose.

Oh, oh...............RBs are in trouble.........Stamps are in the red zone....................TD Stamps and the game is tied 28 all with 2 minutes and 1 second left in the 4th.

RBs start at their 15............first down Ellingson...........Ellingson with another 6........and the last pass is a bummer so the RBs have to punt the ball away. Fabulous 55-yard boot..........total meltdown by the Ottawa returning core allows Stamp receiver to get out to around the 35 then the RBs get tagged with a 15-yard penalty.

Stamps around midfield at 3rd and 2 and they call Maver out to punt the ball...........whoa, I thought they would go for it..............Ottawa gets the ball back around their 15 with 21 seconds on the clock.................and they will take the knee to end the Q and we are off to OT.

Bonus............remember Tec - it was in OT last year that the RBs kicked the FG to win the Cup.

Darn it, Ottawa lost the coin toss and the ability to choose defense or offense. I'm with Duane - I'd want defense cause then you know what you have to do.

That was a lot of abuse to take for a six yard reception says Duane after the receiver is literally up-ended in the air then smacked down to the ground. Ooh that hurt.

Trevor gives up the ball to a Stamp receiver in the end zone...........so all Calgary needs now is a FG to win. Rene Paredes will kick from about 37 yards out - well within his range............holy shit he missed and the RBs run the ball out for their chance to win the game. How exciting is this. So this is the 2nd OT and Ottawa will be on the defense to start this time.

Correction: This is the second half of OT - sorry

Great coverage by Ottawa defender in the end zone to prevent the TD

3rd and 1 and the Stamps will go for it...................Messam gets the down and more..........1rst and goal Stamps

And another great defensive play by Ottawa and a low pass by Mitchell prevent the D................and his next pass goes for nought so its a FG for the Stamps..............Ottawa must even the score or put a TD on the board. Helluva a game

Trevor takes a shot as he misses his receiver on 1rst and 5..................and he misses on his next pass...........so now they must get the FG

Oh, so I guess the game ends in a tie? 31 - 31 was the final score.

Yeah it does end in a tie - so I guess they will both get a point. Two great CFL games to kick off the season. Well done Ottawa.

Hope the Eskimo vs Lions game tomorrow night is half as exciting.

Lions 2 Eskies 0

Rainey lost another TD on the kick return to a holding flag.

Real defensive battle, pete. 6 - 5 Esks just before the half...........make that 13 - 5 Eskimos. I must say I am surprised after watching BC play us, pete............I expected better - not that I am disappointed with the score.

Esks got away with one there..............Lions could have added 3 had the kicker not hit the uprights........all due to a roughing the passer call on 2 and 10.

Half-time

BC took some bad penalties.

Where is Aluminum tonight?

Yes this is a defensive game. Rushes aren't getting anywhere.

Our Ti-Cats are playing tomorrow, pete. I won't be able to watch the game live as I have to work - so cheer loudly for me, will ya. :p

Don't know where Eli is tonight..........they might have mentioned something about him but I missed it. I've not been glued to the set such as I was for the previous two CFL games.
