Britain came to the party late. New France was started by the French in 1535. They never ceded the property until 1763. The French were here for over 200 years before the Brits even had a clue what was on this side of the Atlantic. The Hudson's Bay co. was founded in 1670 - 135 years after the French got here.
Any nation that governs another country or territory will leave its mark, but the Brits had nothing to do with the founding of Canada. Hudson's Bay had nothing to do with it. The French came here and stayed. If anyone gets the credit, they do.
Google Hudson's Bay or the Treaty of 1763 and you will find that New France was given to England as a result of them defeating France in the 7 Years War. They got an established colony with ports, trading, an economy, (what is now referred to as infrastructure) etc. that the French had put in place. It had existed for over 228 years.
As always, BL said something stupid. Stop feeding the troll.
