Re: Trump's Executive Order Remains in Place

It is in Canada's best interests to stay on friendly terms with the U.S. If we were ever attacked/invaded America would be our defense. We sure couldn't defend ourselves.

I couldn't have said it any better myself.........your wisdom continues!

Speaking for myself, Canada and the U.S. are intrinsically 'joined at the hip'. What happens in the U.S. affects Canada.I am very interested in what America does and through the forums can get varied opinions.

This was true. But the times have changed. The world is very very divided over trump. If the US were to start invading countries over disagreements and not aggression, the world might not come to the us defense but to ours.

Maybe we should continue heading away from US dependence.

Statement Regarding Recent Executive Order Concerning Extreme Vetting

“America is a proud nation of immigrants and we will continue to show compassion to those fleeing oppression, but we will do so while protecting our own citizens and border. America has always been the land of the free and home of the brave.

We will keep it free and keep it safe, as the media knows, but refuses to say. My policy is similar to what President Obama did in 2011 when he banned visas for refugees from Iraq for six months. The seven countries named in the Executive Order are the same countries previously identified by the Obama administration as sources of terror. To be clear, this is not a Muslim ban, as the media is falsely reporting.

This is not about religion - this is about terror and keeping our country safe. There are over 40 different countries worldwide that are majority Muslim that are not affected by this order. We will again be issuing visas to all countries once we are sure we have reviewed and implemented the most secure policies over the next 90 days.

I have tremendous feeling for the people involved in this horrific humanitarian crisis in Syria. My first priority will always be to protect and serve our country, but as President I will find ways to help all those who are suffering.”

the so-called media ain't gonna win this one. Trump has the bigger pulpit.

President Donald Trump debunked high-volume claims from the media, Muslim and left-wing critics who claim his new 90-day visitor safeguard policy and refugee reform is a blanket “Muslim ban.”

“This is not a Muslim ban, as the media is falsely reporting,” Trump said in the Sunday statement, as left-wing and Islamist groups decried his new visitor safeguards in airports around the nation, and protested his planned reduction in refugee inflow to 50,000 per year.
“This is not about religion – this is about terror and keeping our country safe. There are over 40 different countries worldwide that are majority Muslim that are not affected by this order,” Trump said.

“My policy is similar to what President Obama did in 2011 when he banned visas for refugees from Iraq for six months,” said Trump. “The seven countries named in the Executive Order are the same countries previously identified by the Obama administration as sources of terror,” he added.

The six-month halt in 2011 was quietly imposed by Obama when two legal refugees in Bowling Green, Ky., were discovered to have been jihad attackers in Iraq. The two jihadis had slipped through lax vetting procedures when they were invited to take refuge in the United States.

Trump continued:
America is a proud nation of immigrants and we will continue to show compassion to those fleeing oppression, but we will do so while protecting our own citizens and border. America has always been the land of the free and home of the brave. We will keep it free and keep it safe, as the media knows, but refuses to say…

We will again be issuing visas to all countries once we are sure we have reviewed and implemented the most secure policies over the next 90 days. I have tremendous feeling for the people involved in this horrific humanitarian crisis in Syria. My first priority will always be to protect and serve our country, but as President I will find ways to help all those who are suffering.
The executive order, signed by Trump on Friday, will suspend visas for 90 days for “immigrants and non-immigrants” from the conflict-wracked Islamic countries of Syria, Somalia, Sudan, Libya, Yemen, Iran, and Iraq, pending the development of acceptable vetting methods. Many countries with large Muslim populations, such as Saudi Arabia, India, and Indonesia, will not be affected.

The order also cuts the annual inflow of refugees back to 50,000 per year, roughly level with the annual inflows in Obama’s first term. That reduction is strongly opposed by U.S.-based Islamic advocacy groups who favor large-scale Islamic migration into the United States.

On Thursday, Trump said that his administration would look at creating safe zones in Syria as part of an effort to ease the country’s humanitarian crisis.

Re: Trump's Executive Order Remains in Place

I expected that Trump would release a statement regarding that EO. I watched CNN's report last night and they showed a few Trump protesters at Sea-Tac airport. There were also pro-Trump people there as well.

WRT the link you posted, I wanted to put this here before it was lost in an avalanche of other comments. It made me laugh for a few reasons, not the least of which was the clerk, dressed in full Muslim garb, operating a store in the US, unmolested. It was his reaction to a customer's question.

The comment was as follows:

When I was walking downtown the other day, I noticed a new Muslim book store. Never having seen a Muslim book store, I went in to check it out. The clerk gave me an unwelcome look, but did ask if he could help me.

I asked him, "Do you have a copy of Donald Trump's new book on his U.S. immigration policy regarding Muslims and illegal aliens?"

The clerk (Dressed in full Muslim Garb) said, "Kiss my FN#$%$, get out, and stay out!!"

I said, "Yes, that's the one. Do you have it in paperback?"

Attacked, yeah we could be attacked by air if someone the likes of ISIS came up with a way of doing it because there isn't a country in the world that has any interest in attacking Canada. Even ISIS has much better targets in mind. See the thing is, we just don't piss off enough to people to make them want to take us out. As far as invasion goes there are only two countries with the ability to try and take us by land. Russia and the US. Russia isn't interested in Westward expansion, her eyes are turned Eastward. That leaves us with the US who many believe would come to us in times of peril but, many may argue, might also turn out to be the threat we never saw coming.

Morbidly fascinating but attention getting just the same. Every day there is something else to grab the headlines and the media's attention even here in Canada where our MSM seems enthrall of each and every word or movement by the President and Canadian news gets pushed down the list of importance.

I think it's a matter of opinion.
The world has been heading along in the same direction for decades without and challenges. Now the path it has been going down is being challenged it is sending shock waves through other countries.
The EU and globalization in the whole have not been that successful. Massive debt, civil unrest is the norm now in many countries.

Brexit caused a shock wave and now the U.S. is doing the same.

There is more anger between factions within other countries than ever before in modern times.
A new direction might just be the best thing to happen. When countries start looking after their own interests first the people might start feeling more secure and less angry.

There are a lot of Canadians who would feel more secure and less angry if our government would stop giving borrowed money away to help foreign countries instead of spending it on our own people.

I doubt very much if the U.S. would want to take over Canada,. Canadians have been brainwashed and cowed by the PC faction to the point of being useless. Those who have resisted the PC brainwashing are just a bunch of old fogeys and racists - just ask the Liberals - and not worthy to be heard.

Of course we wouldn't. We had to hear it in here daily during the Bush years. Liberals in Canada were begging to be invaded!
