With what? The Northern Peso trudOWE gave us?

Ontariowe and Queerbek do not want you to have Canadian oil unless they get a fee for it crossing their land. View it as the Crow rate in reverse.

We are getting oil, so the only thing they are stopping is CANADIAN oil. That is very uncanadian of them, imo.

Carbon tax could compromise Canadian food sovereignty - The Globe and Mail

You will however be able to purchase food from the U.S and Mexico.

This would be unstable. If Canada just decided to import everything from abroad and not buy anything domestically, the massive balance of trade deficit that would ensure would undoubtedly push the Canadian dollar way down to equilibrium. Then not only would Canadian buy Canadian because we couldn't afford imports anymore, but foreigners would be buying Canadian too due to the low dollar.

But the dollar could not drop too low since if it did, the opposite problem would occur. Everyone would be buying Canadian and no Canadian would be buying from abroad. This would result in the Canadian dollar rising against other currencies and so encourage Canada to import more and export less.

There is nothing new in this. Each time a government changes the taxes, whether by lowing them, raising them, replacing them with new taxes, etc. the market needs to adapt. Nothing new here. So yes, the market will need to adapt to the carbon tax, for all of its pros and cons. While carbon-dependent industries will suffer from this, more carbon-independent ones will benefit. For example, the banking industry, the service industry, education, software programming, etc. will all benefit since they do not depend much on carbon. Meanwhile, the automotive industry, transportation, and other such industries will suffer. Again, just like with other taxes, the market will adapt.

It did?

Maybe this guy can drain the swamp....look what he did when congress tried to dismantle the independent ethics committee.

He did the right thing.

While the committee needs some over site I still believe it has a purpose as long as it is independent.
