IF he knew the stir and sensitivity this would cause.. and did it deliberately.......then the US is in very serious troub le. If his actions were out of stupidity or naivete or garden variety ignorance... then he is truly NOT prepared for the job..not even close. Perhaps he should spendmoer time learning about the job he "won"... and less time on twitter. His twitter posts are just angry retorts to the criticism comng his way. He can't handle being criticized. His over inflated ego can't take it. Seems.so far.that most things he does and say s are for attention... and that of a 5 yr old level.

Tje scaru thing is that he will never admit to mistakes ( unless-it suits him) nor will he back down. why on earth don't they do psych assessments for these candidates.... as he is a walking potential for major disaster..

If the democratic leader was doing this . we would be hearing the republicans having a hissy fit at every turn.

What is astounding is how his supporters defend him regardless of what he says and does.... and he brings out the worst in others .

He will try to makes sure there are as few checks and balances in place .so as he can have free reign... with great potential for abusse of power.

He is acting like the previous administration is already gone. What arrogance ...

If it talks like a thug ....

His unpredictability is very con;concerning.... as is his game playing. ( toss in his immaturity. ) His lack of knowledge and sophistication is astounding... but in a crazy way he represents the mindset of many americans.

Me thinks they got themselves a rogue bloke and in a world where tensions are easily triggered... can't see him as a calming influence. In fact it is the opposite.

.
So what about this..........?

Despite strong opposition from China, the Obama administration authorized a $1.83 billion weapons sale to Taiwan Wednesday, marking the first U.S. arms shipment to the island in four years.

But the timing of the sale comes amidst heightened tensions between the U.S. and China due to recent Chinese territorial claims in the South China Sea.

Methinks you don't have much use for Donald Trump . Would you be happier with Ted Cruz as president ?

I respectfully disagree.
First, he didn't make the call. He received the call. Not receiving it would have been impolite at best and insulting at worst.
I presume he did talk to the Taiwanian President deliberately and I hope so. He has made it very clear from the start of his campaign that if he were President, the U.S. would not be led around by the nose by foreign nations.
Unlike Obama, who bowed and scraped to other countries, showered them with financial 'donations' and failed to respond to their acts of aggression, Mr. Trump will not be such a pushover.
China is among the countries that have become openly aggressive toward the U.S. during the Obama years. They recognized weakness when they saw it.
China has more to lose from poor relations with the U.S. than the U.S. does. Who's the biggest importers of their cheap crap?

the world had best get used to Trump not playing by the beltway, elite, ruling class rules.

That would explain the Goldman Sachs lifer that he just appointed to Treasury Secretary ...to "mix" it up on Wall Street and push aside those elite ... bankers ... from Wall Street.

Odd how Trumpnics can be so off-kilter about China picking US friends ... but it's perfectly alright for them to whine about Canada's relationship with Cuba. That my-shyte-don't-stink syndrome isn't exclusive is it....

Trump is from New York which means he is going to do it his way and the world leaders will have to change their thinking

I think she's pretty tough and is not ****ting her pants because Trump won......

In her victory speech, she vowed to preserve the status quo in relations with China, adding Beijing must respect Taiwan's democracy and both sides must ensure there are no provocations.

China sees the island as a breakaway province - which it has threatened to take back by force if necessary.

The will of the Taiwanese people would be the basis for relations with China, Ms Tsai said.
