The one thing that can hurt Canada the most is Trump's opposition to NAFTA. If the House and the Senate back him on this, Canada had better start looking for new trade partners. It'll hurt our economy big time, but it's better to trade with far off lands than with nobody.

Another piece of goid news is that the UK is now as desperate as Canada is to find a trading partner. Marriage of convenience. Of course it won't benefit us as much as trade with a neighbour with five times the UK's population is better than transatlantic trade with a far off land, but that is still better than nothing.

The best thing Canada can do is follow suit and reinstate major tariffs and excise fees on foreign products and restart the manufacturing sector here so our workers can have a decent standard of living without working for 3 different fast-food outlets. Globalism and free trade took a huge kick in the nuts yesterday which is great. You may be happy with that $2 widget from China that is of inferior quality because that's all you can afford on a Burger King salary, I will take the $20 widget made here that's actually worth $20 and allows the guy making it to feed & house his family without needing 2 other jobs and his wife to work too. Your idealism in supporting a globalist society shows a distinct lack of knowledge of how the economy really works and how you make it grow. Hint for you....the answer is not higher taxes and more socialist policy.

Blackleaf, Whatever his external appearance and promises, he is not of a character that makes up a president. He was elected due to
a collective character trait of all Americans, that is, the temptation to novelty and experimentation. However, this is one gamble that can never be fixed if they get it wrong. Whatever you make of him, you can never say he is calm and collected under stress, especially shown under something as mundane as an election. He lacks thoughtfulness and reservation, and prone to spontaniety He is a definite risk and the Americans think they can roll the dice for the rest of the globe.

To know for sure, he will require his moment of proof, and at that moment all we will have to be hopeful is what we know of his character.
Can you give us your assessment of Trudeau well you are at it , please ?

The national debt will be off the charts before he's done.

If he lives up to his promises of bringing the manufacturing sector back to life he will probably reduce the national debt. More people earning more money means more tax revenue. Add in massive revenue increases from customs and excise tariffs and you start to make lots of headway on reducing the deficit and debt.

The $20 widget will increase inflation and offset any gains you think you are making.

He was elected because the American citizens are sick and tired of an ever greater socialist economy and having their standard of living reduced to welfare status by politicians controlled by globalist interests. The system has been broken for a long time with no signs of doing anything but getting worse. Trump signifies a big f*ck you to the status quo establishment. It is tantamount to having a major revolution without all the bloodshed.

Now that the world is going to burst into flames and hailstones the size of Buicks are on the way, I'd best get my trees trimmed. I just finished mowing the lawn for the last time this season.

To the Dems: You witnessed democracy in action. Yes, it hurts to have lost the election, but be thankful that you live in a democracy. You know what? The world will carry on somehow.

If I was a Trump supporter this morning, I think it's alright to be smug. You earned it. For the rest of the world, you were the little engine that could. Everyone likes a scrappy, don't give up political fighter.

In the coming weeks, the unqualified will overanalyze what happened. The gloomy Gusses will predict a scary future. The uninformed will scream that the sky is falling. But life will carry on.

For those of you that weren't around or were too young to remember, the mood this morning is a lot like when they voted in that actor, whathisname, to the presidency. The know-it-alls predicted gloom and doom. America was finished. The pundits pundisized. Things turned out alright though.

I have eels in my bathtub.

So, why do you think Hilary is so late for her speech? Is it because she's crying, or she's having a seizure?

With all due respect, T.P. I think she's had a major shock, as anatomically, I think she is human plus she may need an hour of sleep and then a few minutes to put her makeup on. I doubt if she's either stalling or crying. Have some patience, we're getting rid of her.

I wasn't aware there was a set time.

For values of we = a country I'm not a citizen of and have no legitimate interest in.

It will be interesting. The Republican congress is not a fan of many of his policies. I don't think tea partiers want to see a major increase in spending. Could be a lot of battles within that group still ahead.

She's had all night. She's stalling. The question is, why.

There is no such thing as inflation, it is a misnomer. What you have is a devaluation of the currency by the government increasing the money supply without producing anything to give value to that new money while incurring unpayable debt to create it. I will forgive your ignorance on the reality of the subject, you are in with 99% of the population who believe the lies and accept the false reality.
