said Koltiska. “It’s sinful and shameful is what it is.”

“God is love, and we should love one another and be kind,” Koltiska said. “There’s enough wealth in this world that no child should go hungry, especially in school. To me this is just wrong.”

Stacy Koltiska said that she will never forget the look in the little boy’s eyes. As an elementary school lunchroom staffer, her job was to work the register for the children when they paid for their meals.

But the boy had a negative balance on his account, and a new policy in the Canon-McMillan, Pa. school district this year prevents cafeteria workers from serving a hot meal to students who owe more than $25. Koltiska said she had to follow the policy and was ordered to refuse the boy his hot meal because he couldn’t pay for it.

Rather than continue to enforce the policy at Wylandville Elementary School , Koltiska tendered her resignation last week. Koltiska said in an interview that she had worked for the school district for two years. She said she was stunned by the new policy, which began this fall.

Our Lions club spends a couple of thousand a year maintaining the lunch program at the local elementary school even though this is a fairly affluent area. We do have our share of deadbeats that can afford booze and crack but not food for their kids.

You should do like these good people and punish the children of the deadbeats. That'll show 'em!

Why not just slip the kid the $25 rather than quit your job? It isn't like the replacement would make it so the kid has something to eat.

The real deadbeats are those who inherit their wealth. Tap the trillionairs first and tap them hard.

I also would have paid the $25 dollar, but I have to say that such a rule is just mean. It is not a solution!! There are a handful of parents that cannot (or don't five a ****) afford the money, but it is money! a child is a child! whatever is needed to cover these few kids meal, do it man, what the F&^k!! organize a bake-off, do a $1.00 collection from the staff every month...

I see compassion and empathy are your strong suits.

Compassion and empathy are only useful for marketing. If the kid was a true American he would capitalize on that. He should probably be vetted for Islamic or communist sympathies. Ban all starving children until we figure out what the hell is going on.

The stinky little ragamuffin has got educated if you have no coin you don't eat. If it has any brains it would learn how to thieve the lunch money, like a banker. Lazy, all of them.

All the Gospels recount of how Jesus was beset with mobs of sick and poor. But when a woman wanted to anoint him with expensive oil and his disciples were like whoa you could sell that and feed the poor, Jesus was like there will always be poor people, oil me up! A couple of times the disciples were like hey we don't have enough food to feed all these people, should we go buy some? Jesus was like whatever just divide a couple of loaves and fishes among them.
