It would be nice if an expert on the matter would just list five pros and cons and it would end a lot of speculation on the matter. I'm totally ignorant about the matter & don't have an inkling. :)

Watch the movie above.. Seriously.

First 20 minutes you're getting the idea..

...and when they get to the poor fishermen, well then look at Canada.

Short course. There are a bunch of un-elected bureaucrats sitting in Brussels making up the EU's rules as they go along. They and they alone determine how it is run and dictate to member nations what they have to do to be a member. But to get a fuller picture, I agree with Boomer, JLM - watch the movie.

Exactly.

Watch to the end, and it explains how badly trade deals are.. and they take a good look at Switzerland.. who is not in the EU. ;)

Better wages, less regulation, and open trade borders..

symbolically huge.

symbols seem to madden people these days.

the same 'people' will begin to act out, be the bad actors that they are and reinforce the sentiments of the leaves.

as far as future practicality goes, this is a turning point in the leftist bent the west took awhile back.

that wrong-headed thinking is coming undone.

things will only get better.

I am 100% behind Canada having a referendum on policy.

Which policy would that be, Eagle? I am all for holding a referendum when the outcome affects the way we vote. I consider that an important enough matter. I do not support holding referendums for inconsequential matters.

The petition, set up by William Oliver Healey, states: "We the undersigned call upon [the UK] Government to implement a rule that if the Remain or Leave vote is less than 60%, based on a turnout less than 75%, there should be another referendum."
Oh MAN you can really feel the butt-hurt in this one. Maybe genius boy should have suggested those recommendations BEFORE the referendum instead of coming across as nothing but sour grapes.

How about a referendum to drop out of the NAFTA next year, would you vote for or against it?

NAFTA goes hand in hand with increasing the foreign ownership and corporatism we see in Canada, and contributes to the trend we're seeing where Canada basically sells off its natural resources wholesale and makes fewer genuine products of its own. I don't want any of those trends to continue. Maybe it puts us 'ahead' in terms of numbers, but I don't see it contributing much to developing our society.

Free trade didn't damage the logging industry in BC - it destroyed it. The BC owned corporations are gone, replaced by US behemoths. It was never about competing - it was about destroying an industry, and picking up the pieces on the cheap.

It's Time Canadian took our country back and kicked out our corporate overlords.

Our water gets sent south to get bottled and sold back to us at a higher price.

Our raw logs get sent east to get processed and turned into products which are sold back to us at a higher price.

Our oil gets dredged from the ground to be made into gas which gets sold back to us at a higher price.

Our minerals get shipped all over the place for the same reason: So that other countries can use what we have and sell it back to us in the form of finished, and often cheaply made products for us to consume.

We should be training and employing people here to make those things ourselves. It would keep more jobs and skills inside the country instead of favouring cheap labour elsewhere. It may not look like a big deal now, but we're going to need to learn how to live more locally in the future whether we want to or not.

SICE: Trade Agreements: North American Free Trade Agreement

When America sends us their immigrants, they are not sending their best, the ones that are coming are loud, obnoxious, fat, arrogant, steal our resources, get uncontrollably drunk on real beer with 6.1% alcohol.

Canada should build a wall on our southern border and have those bloody Yanks pay for it.

When did Interfor, Canfor and West Fraser get bought out by ferigners?

It was the NDP in the 90s that destroyed the BC forest industry. We have never recovered from their bad management practices.

If Trump gets in he will tear up the agreement for us, Boomer. He might even build a wall, in which case, the US indeed would be paying for it.

As for your other remarks.

America does not send us their immigrants - Canada decides who will and who will not be welcomed to our country - not the US. I know a few American ex-pats around here and to a person they are good, decent, friendly folks who are truly thankful to be living in Canada. They are great neighbors and quickly became a part of our community.

I think you either need to stop hanging out in places where you run across the types you mention above, or get some new friends.

Ha. If they are I find it hilarious. Thats what you get for voting with emotion alone. Be careful and think before voting. Whatever you choose just might win. Think about what the consequences may be for your vote before you vote. If you think one of them may be regret, vote differently. I dont really have much sympathy for anyone who winds up regretting their vote when they know exactly what they voted for.

If I was an American I'd consider strongly voting for Trump albeit there is some risk like he might piss off Pukin and get a real war started, that would be one of the downsides of Trump. On the other hand he would probably address some of the sh*t we all knows goes on and do something about it. If you are a felon you probably wouldn't like him but that would be good. With Hillary the best you can hope for is lack lustre. She probably wouldn't do anything too risky but might still piss the wrong people off with her big mouth. She'd probably spend a good part of each day applying make up and attending to her nails etc. Someone else would actually do it while she supervises. Trump would likely create a lot of employment building jails. :)

Out of ALL of them, Trump was the only one I heard who addressed the mental health issue in the US and the fact that proper, affordable mental health care was sorely lacking.

Just a load of nonsense from the liberal British media to make us think that we voted for Brexit and now we are "regretting" and that the thick Brexiters don't really want Brexit and/or to make people think that those millions of people who voted for Brexit are too stupid and thick to realise what it was they were doing.

The fact is that of the 17,410,742 people who voted to leave the EU, around 99.9% of them are glad they have done it, including me. A vote to Remain in this failing, economically sclerotic, undemocratic European Union is just too horrific a thought for me. The British people made the right decision and it is an irreversible decision.

It will be interesting to see if enough people rise up and they have another referendum.

Now it's Scotland's turn.

Scotland did not want to leave the EU. But we may want to leave the UK

www.youtube.com/watch?v=ledHVF1ZtDI

Beautiful song Scotland forever!

Besides, The EU may not want them back...

What people forget is that Scotland and Northern Ireland very nearly kept England and Wales IN the EU against their will.

We could very nearly have been talking about a referendum for independence for England and Wales from Scotland and Northern Ireland.

And EU officials have just given the Scottish nationalists some bad news...

If you watch this movie.. you will support the UK decision 110%

www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTMxfAkxfQ0

I've seen it. It's probably what persuaded a lot of people to vote Leave.
