Are ISIS ammo depots exploding? It is no secret who is shelling the area, unless you live in a cocoon that is.

Assad Is Liking His Chances These Days -- Here Is Why
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is feeling pretty cocky, telling his newly-elected parliament this morning that he has “vowed to ‘liberate’ every inch of the country in the same way his troops recaptured the historic town of Palmyra from the Islamic State group,” the Associated Press reports. His government, he said, “has no alternative but to be victorious.” So there’s your latest on negotiating any peaceful transition away from power, as U.S.State Secretary John Kerry was shooting for by August 1.
Here’s one reason why Assad may have a bit more pep in his step today: Russia has paved the way for escalation in Syria’s northwest, Business Insider reported Monday after Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov “What is happening in and around Aleppo now is what we had warned the Americans about beforehand — and they know it: that we will in the most active way support the Syrian army from the air not to allow the seizure of this territory by terrorists.” Lavrov’s comments follow recent similar remarks from the deputy defense minister and a former chief of the general staff for Russia’s military.

Assad, Kurds and Russians Inadvertently Bail Out Erdogan's 'Moderate Rebels' Against ISIS
Two and a half offensives are underway against ISIS in Syria.
Firstly the Kurds propped up by some Arab fighters have crossed the Euphrates in northern Syria and are advancing westwards on the city of Manbij -- which is the second biggest city after the 'capital' of Raqqa that ISIS holds in Syria.

Backed by US air support and special forces the Kurds (albeit Americans are pretending that SDF's Arab component is leading the fight) have made impressive gains in hard battles and are close to encircling and storming Manbij -- a major ISIS outpost in the north.
The battle is important because without Manbij ISIS can not hold onto the north which means its link via the outside world via Turkey is doomed.

Russia Will 'Poke US in the Eye' if Assad Retakes Raqqa Before Rebels

While much of the money transferred from the US to Iran was frozen assets that belonged to the Iranian government to begin with, the $1.7 billion in question was not.
According to a letter from the US State Department to Representative Mike Pompeo (R-KS) $400 million of that sum came from the Judgement Fund, something described as "a source of funding to pay judgements and claims against the United States when there is no other source of funding."
The remaining $1.3 billion is interest on that $400 million, accrued over the past 36 years and paid for by the American taxpayer.

French Forces Begin Construction of Military Base in Syria's Aleppo

Russian and Syrian Defense Ministers Arrive in Iran to Coordinate Syria War Effort

Something has to be done about these damn Russians. Why not commit an elite squadron of F-35s to the conflict zone, I hear they can deliver democrusty anywhere anytime. Fukkin junk
That will become an overused phrase at the ICC when the radar tracks track the aircraft back to Turkish held bases and they would have to cough up the records from the tower as to what aircraft it was. 10 minute presentation and the prosecution rests. What's NATO going to claim, hi-jacked fighter/bombers??

Success in afghanistan, iraq, libya and syria the u.s game plan is not too difficult to guesstimate, soft peddling on various terrorist groups keeps them viable and justifies keeping u.s. arms and troops entrenched. Pulling out could prompt nations to ask russian or china to come in and do the job that the pentagon has been puzzy footing around with. Those nasty russians accepting assads invite pummeled rebels including u.s. designated moderate rebels and put a cork in erdogans oil tap ruffling u.s. feathers, could be barac was miffed that putin was invited to syria but he wasn't. Luv when u.s. brass is asked to name or define moderate rebels.
China and russia increased presence in africa is giving u.s. hawks migraines, appears too late to play catch up but hillary if elected will have a go.
Do have to feel for obomba, assad has to go to make turkey a trusted nato partner and kurd butcher happy and also keep saudi arabia the staunch human rights champions happy, nailing down the u.s. moral stance is difficult.
Have to understand u.s. apologized for blowing a hospital to bits so all is forgiven, fog of war is their crutch alone.

Russia bombs U.S.-backed Syrian rebels near Jordan border - CNNPolitics.com

Washington (CNN)Russian warplanes bombed U.S. backed Syrian rebels near the Jordanian border, Pentagon officials say, causing the U.S. to divert armed aircraft to the scene of the strike.

The strikes, which the U.S. says killed some New Syrian Army troops, occurred about six miles from the Jordanian border, according to a U.S. defense official. The U.S. diverted armed FA-18s to the area after the first round of two strikes, and the pilots then tried to call the Russians on a previously agreed-upon pilot-to-pilot communications channel but did not receive an answer.
As soon as the U.S. jets left the area to refuel, the Russians came back for another round of bombing, the defense official said.

First question, why is the u.s. nose in syria, they still have mop up tasks in afghanistan, iraq and libya just to mention three nations that were rather stable prior to our way or say your prayers u.s. 'diplomacy'.
But oh those russians, openly taking barac to task in syria saying dialouge trumps spilling blood which put a dampner on u.s. plans to give assad a gadaffi style send off too. Putin said from the start assad was his ally and he would support him which he has done so no surprise the u.s. is miffed to put it mildly. CNN is very adept at massaging events so I always put a little salt on their reports but this one if bare bones true again we see the russians somehow achieving their goal which is
absolutely amazing
.
Finding a small number of proxy fighters undefined by their host is no small feat.

Syria - Russian Surprise Attack Blows Up Kerry's Delaying Tactic
The U.S. is unwilling to stop the war on Syria and to settle the case at the negotiation table. It wants a 100% of its demands fulfilled, the dissolution of the Syrian government and state and the inauguration of a U.S. proxy administration in Syria.
After the ceasefire in Syria started in late February Obama broke his pledge to separate the U.S. supported "moderate rebels" from al-Qaeda. In April U.S. supported rebels, the Taliban like Ahrar al Sham and al-Qaeda joined to attack the Syrian government in south Aleppo. The U.S.proxies broke the ceasefire.
Two UN resolutions demand that al-Qaeda in Syria be fought no matter what. But the U.S. has at least twice asked Russia not to bomb al-Qaeda. It insists, falsely, that it can not separate its "moderates" from al-Qaeda and that al-Qaeda can not be attacked because that would also hit its "moderate" friends.
The Russian foreign minster Lavrov has talked wit Kerry many times about the issue. But the only response he received were requests to further withhold bombing. Meanwhile al-Qaeda and the "moderates" continued to break the ceasefire and to attack the Syrian government forces.
After nearly four month Kerry still insists that the U.S. needs even more time for the requested separation of its proxy forces from al-Qaeda. Foreign Minister Lavrov recently expressed the Russian consternation:
The Americans are now saying that they are unable to remove the 'good' opposition members from the positions held by al-Nusra Front, and that they will need another two-three months. I am under the impression that there is a game here and they may want to keep al-Nusra Front in some form and later use it to overthrow the [Assad] regime," Lavrov said at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
The bucket was full and Kerry's latest request for another three month pause of attacking al-Qaeda was the drop that let it overflow. Russia now responded by hitting the U.S. where it did not expect to be hit:
Russian warplanes hit Pentagon-backed Syrian fighters with a barrage of airstrikes earlier this week, disregarding several warnings from U.S. commanders in what American military officials called the most provocative act since Moscow’s air campaign in Syria began last year. The strikes hit a base near the Jordanian border, far from areas where the Russians were previously active, and targeted U.S.-backed forces battling the Islamic State militants.
...
These latest strikes occurred on the other side of the country from the usual Russian operations, around Tanf, a town near where the borders of Jordan, Iraq, and Syria meet.
...
The Russian strike hit a small rebel base for staging forces and equipment in a desolate, unpopulated area near the border. About 180 rebels were there as part of the Pentagon's program to train and equip fighters against Islamic State.
When the first strikes hit, the rebels called a U.S. command center in Qatar, where the Pentagon orchestrates the daily air war against Islamic State.
U.S. jets came and the Russian jets went away. The U.S. jets left to refuel, the Russian jets came back and hit again. Allegedly two U.S. proxy fighters were killed and 18 were wounded.
Earlier today another such attack hit the same target.
This was no accident but a well planned operation and the Russian spokesperson's response makes the intend clear:
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov appeared to confirm the attack Friday, telling reporters it was difficult to distinguish different rebel groups from the air.

US Syria Memo Threatens to ‘Plunge the Whole Region Into Complete Chaos’
The letter is signed by 51 US State Department officials and calls for the US to carry out military strikes in Syria against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's forces. This, they hope, would enable Washington to ultimately change the Syrian government.

Hizbullah Reportedly Incurs Very Heavy Casualties in Aleppo Province — Naharnet
Hizbullah has suffered very heavy casualties in the southern countryside of the northern Syrian province of Aleppo, incurring the highest toll of deaths and injuries since the 2013 Qusayr battle, Syrian opposition activists have announced.
The party has lost at least 25 fighters in the clashes that have been raging for several days, the activists said, amid official announcements by the party about its deaths and reports about the disappearance of several members whose fate is still unknown.
“Hizbullah and the Iranians are dismayed by the fact that the Russian warplanes are not supporting them,” the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has reported, noting that the Syrian army and its allies “might anytime lose the town of al-Hader south of Aleppo should the absence of Russia's aerial support continue.”
According to Observatory director Rami Abdel Rahman, at least 186 combatants from both sides have been killed since Tuesday – 86 from the regime and its allies, including 25 Hizbullah members, and 100 anti-regime Islamist fighters.

This is what has the 'invaders' so upset. They can be removed at will when the US (and Allies) is prevented from protecting them.

Informed sources close to Jeish al-Fatah reported on Sunday that 24 ringleaders of the terrorist group are among the 167 militants killed in Aleppo recently.
They also added that 5 tanks and 34 military vehicles belonging to the terrorists were destroyed during the fighting.
Also, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) quoted a Jeish al-Fatah commander as saying that the terrorist group has sustained big losses and damage in the war with the Syrian army in Southern Aleppo.
Meantime, military sources said on Saturday that hundreds of Jeish al-Fatah terrorists crossed Turkey's border into Northern Syria to join their comrades in the mountainous battlefields of the coastal province of Lattakia that has been the scene of government forces' advances in the recent days.
"After significant advances of the Syrian army and its popular allies against the terrorist groups near the border with Turkey, Ankara paved the way for scores of the terrorists to enter Lattakia to join their comrades from Chechnya and Caucasus deployed in Turkmen mountain," the sources said.

Actually sarkozy needed a political boost and felt libya was his ticket so he attacked as it was rumoured gaddafi was asking the eu for money to keep africans from migrating north, he would be a hero. As it turned out paying him would have been a bargain but the u.s addicted to regime change liked the french initiative and couldn't resist chipping in. Hillary luved it and rejoiced when gaddafi got butchered, it was never a canuck fight.

Contrast putin calling for the syrian people to have a say in whom rules their roost and barac insisting he knows best, assad needs to join gaddafi. His reign is coming to an end and barac wants to continue the u.s. disasterous regime change streak, gauging pres hopefuls a cynic could conclude that streak will continue.

The ongoing war in Syria may see some escalation soon. A report that 51 State Dept. employees (out of 13,000 foreign service officers) signed a memo urging President Obama to change his focus in Syria from fighting ISIS to fighting the secular Assad government has caused quite a stir.
The fact that such a small number of individuals could make this a noteworthy story shows that propaganda continues to reign supreme. It makes no sense that U.S. can weaken ISIS by attacking the main opponent of ISIS (i.e., Assad).
We’re constantly smothered in rhetoric about how America “must stop ISIS.” Yet, ISIS has been on the ropes, and in trouble. The group has been on the run, and what does the U.S. want to do? They want to hurry up and bomb Assad, which they’ve been trying to do for five years now.
