Growing number of Canadians with heart failure putting strain on economy: report

A new report says more needs to be done to help a growing number of Canadians who are living with damaged hearts.
About 600,000 people are living with heart failure - an incurable, long-term condition where the heart is not pumping enough blood due to damage from heart attacks and disease, says the Heart and Stroke Foundation study.

Yep, too many couch potatoes living too high on the hog! :)

It calls for the gubmint that created the problem to solve the problem. Ain't gonna happen.

Nah, it calls for the couch dwellers putting on the hiking boots and climbing a few hills! :) :)

You're just as thick as Flossy and his geezer comment....

"Marc Bains was a fit 23-year-old when he was diagnosed in 2008 after a cold virus attacked his heart and reduced its function to only 10 per cent. He was put on a heart transplant list and had a tiny defibrillator implanted in his chest."

Or how about fit active people who had kidney issues that cause heart failure?

There's a number of things that cause heart disease.

When the Health Care System is strapped for money they lay blame. First it was the smokers draining the system. Then it was the elderly. Now it's people with heart conditions.
Take this report as forewarning of more cuts in services and more services not being covered.

Actually you are dead right in a small number of cases. I lost two cousins that way about 30 years ago and a fellow I worked with back in the early 90s. I thought I had myself covered on that score, Bear...................for a long time my signature on the forum was "There's an exception to every rule"- You have a good day.................ya hear! :)

Well....................I don't think smoking is conducive to good health. About 10 years ago my doctor told me "if every healthy Canadian walked for 45 minutes a day our health costs would eventually be cut in half". I'm a firm believer in people looking at their own health and the doctors looking after the exceptions and the emergencies.

Northern Ontario,
People shouldn't cast absertions on older people's use of the medical system especialy when they have taken full advantage of it themselves....
more hypocrisy from the usual suspect....

Your pedigree's showing again.... Shameful.... Cover your nakedness
His pedigree is pretty impressive. Little Andy here put a serious burden on the healthcare system himself, when he decided to try and kiss a train. 4 months he sucked directly from the system, then continued leaching as an out patient for years more, just because of his stupidity. As opposed to just getting older and becoming a "geezer".

Funny how much of a hypocrite he really is.

Sure sure. Unfortunately given your proven dishonesty, no one believes you.

Will you be apologizing to walter, DaS, JLM, etc?

I can pull up a thread where you whined at others about a similar statement, for page after page after page. Then made their out of context statement your sig.

I mean, if you're capable of being honest and not a hypocrite and all, that is.

Smoking is no more a health problem than dozens of other vices.
And yes, walking is good. But I believe stress is the biggest cause of illness today, both physically and mentally.
