I know it's illegal to carry a concealed firearm in Canada, but if you're being attacked and may be killed.. better off jail than a pine box. I say carry in Canada and fück the government.

Actually it isn't, a class III CCW permit is available, but try to get a CFO to authorize it. At least 2 of Brian Mulroney's cabinet members had one and did pack heat, back before Jean Cretien finally enacted Pierre's draconian laws first attempted in around 1978.

So how is one to get a class III CCW permit, under what circumstances is a Canadian allowed to carry a CCW?

Fell free to elaborate on your above statement..

Canada

The practice of CCW is illegal in Canada but permitted under rare circumstances. Section 90 of the Criminal Code prohibits carrying a concealed weapon unless authorized under the Firearms Act.[1] Section 20 of the Firearms Act allows issuance of an Authorization to Carry (ATC) in limited circumstances. Concealment of the firearm is permitted only if specifically stipulated in the conditions of the ATC, as section 58(1) of the Firearms Act allows a CFO to attach conditions to an ATC.

Provincial chief firearm officers (CFOs) may only issue an authorization in accordance with the regulations. Specifically, SOR 98-207 section 2 requires, for an ATC for protection of life, that an individual be in imminent danger and that police protection is insufficient. As such, where the relevant police agency determines its protection is sufficient, the CFO would have difficulty in issuing the ATC over police objections.

For issuance of an ATC under 98-207(3) for lawful occupations, provision is made for armored car personnel under subsection a), for wildlife protection (while working) and trapping under subsections b) and c). Unless hunting or other activity is occupational, it would not be possible to issue an ATC under this section.[2] As noted, while a CFO can exercise some discretion, they must follow the law when considering applications for an ATC.[3]

Yes, we know how you feel on the matter, being paranoid and all but (and don't get me wrong, I find your phobias amusing) this does not negate the fact that the woman broke the law.

Well, that's an entirely different discussion. Do you feel anybody should be free to ignore any law they deem "stupid"?

Governments do all the time.

It's less than a $100 fine if I understand correctly so she'll probably pay it and walk away.

If you have a Class III ATC it is not illegal to conceal carry, you quoted the requirements that make it legal, you elaborated on that yourself. As I said, good luck getting one. But if we want to get real here, firearms ownership in this country is now a criminal offense, has been since 1995, and is only legal if authorised by way of licensing under the Firearms Act and Criminal Code, the same as having an ATC. Gotta love the lefties, what used to be a right, a duty actually, was enacted by Alfred the Great (849 - 899), could have been earlier, and again re-affirmed in the English Bill of Rights in 1689. King James did try to restrict the right to Catholics only but that was overturned. But over the centuries, especially the more recent ones, that right was turned into a privilege by more "enlightened and progressive" governments.
