Yours is a fair comment, however, the nature of the current gvt's vacuous and superficial persona has a very real shelf-life.

The key to Trudeau's success (or that or any new gvt) will be gauged via the delivery of the implied results to both their core supporters and especially those swing voters.

Based on what I see so far, the selfie tactic, if relied upon too heavily can potentially be more damaging than he might imagine.

Wait and see I guess

asute observation , have you considered public office? Canada needs specimins like you to step forwrd.

A little slow? That's an understatement. 15 yr olds are typically brain dead and have no idea what is happening or has happened outside their neighbourhood.

Here, "audit" this.:

Oh that's funny. Let's just carry on putting young Canadian's in harms way (boots on the ground) while we pat ourselves on the back about not bombing.

Apparently you are under the mistaken impression that I think any Canadians should be put in harm's way. Don't you think it is about time that Canada stopped getting involved in American screw-ups?

I would imagine,if I designed intelligence, being too cozy with the USA is not of best interest for Canada.Remaining seperate or at least appearing seperate is a good thing.

Don't you think that it is about time that we should consider these are now global problems, hence our problems, despite whether the chain of events was set off by the Americans or not?

I won't disagree with that. What I am concerned about is that Canada often allows the US to be the determiner of what a global problem is. It might actually be nice to determine what our foreign policy goals should be without checking with the USA first.

Yeah, it might be nice, but the hard fact is, we need the U.S.A., they don't need us. It's foolhardy to try to compete with a country ten times our size. The best we can do is ride on their coattails.

So you're saying you want to kill all Conservatives.. Put us all to sleep like dogs at the vet.

Okay, you're a nut job.

You are hardly a conservative sir. You are a Harper Conservative one who has nothing to do with conservation except in the narrowest of banking circles and the legion of half wits who suffer your company.

I will tell you that this is a direct result of our gradually standing down our Armed Forces from the mid 1960s to the present. In the process, we have handed off our own defences, one piece at a time to the Americans to save money, mostly and because of some misguided idea that we were forwarding the cause of peace. As we have given away our defences, so we given away a lot of of free choice. He who plays the Piper, gets to call the tune.

Just so you know, in case you are too young to remember, in 1960 the population of Canada was one half of what it is now and our Armed Forces were a bit more than twice the size of what remains, today. Mostly, our Forces have dropped below the numbers threshold of being able to do much of anything.

What ground troups? The few advisors that we have there? We're good but not that good LOL

We had our own in Afghanistan. The Americans had theirs both in Afghanistan and Iraq. In all cases we don't have much to show for all that effort.

I will also add, as high quality as our soldiers are and they are top notch, the Afghanistan mission which consists of maintaining one short-staffed infantry brigade (about the same number that died in our first battle of WWI) wrung out the total capabilities of the entire Armed Forces and the whole organization was close to collapse. They slipped below minimum basic numbers to operate as an independent force a long, long time ago and now we supplement American efforts to pay for their defence of our country.

for the tilly hatted skinny academic types with a vacant inexplicable constant smile on their faces fantasizing about meeting shiny pony:

Tuesday, October 7, 2014 will go down as a day of ignominy for the Liberal Party of Canada.

For crass electoral reasons, the party voted that day against the Conservative motion to send CF-18 fighters to join the coalition arranged against the barbarians of the Islamic State, the militant group who, at the time, were knocking at the gates of Baghdad.
Calculating that the war would become unpopular, particularly in Quebec, the Trudeau Liberals locked themselves into a position advocating a “military role of a non-combat nature.”

That they still haven’t found a face-saving way to fix that blunder is now Canada’s disgrace.

Camille Carrier, the mother of Maude Carrier, who was killed in a terror attack by Islamic fundamentalists in Burkina Faso on Friday, said she is ashamed of Canada. “I have plenty of friends in France who are ashamed of us,” she said, as she called for military action against jihadist forces.

You know there's a change in the tide when the Quebecois favour a good old fashioned smack down.

Excuse me Mr soldier, but wasn't it your pal harper that brokered the arms deal ?I used to feel bad for "you people" but now i think you should all be put to sleep.
I love it when you people let your genocidal tendencies show.

None, we smacked the sh!t outta them before they could.

That is dead on.

Also, the "legions" that currently threaten our territory directly are Russian. We share a border them that runs through the Pole and they have repeatedly stated that they do not respect any lines up there except for those that they themselves have drawn. Defend it or lose it. This will be a big news item in a year or two.
