With his money it is called 'the Cottage'.
How many cots for Syrians, perhaps some security details as I'm pretty sure they notice each flinch that happens within range? ISIS roaming the halls with AK47's. Never could have imagined that 10 years ago.

Seems like you got the last word, . . . giggles are what girls do btw.

Apparently Boomer isn't the only idiot following this thread. Maybe the government can run an ad campaign explaining to Canadians of lesser IQs, who owns public buildings. I didn't think it was necessary but clearly it is

Still for $10M the whole party could live in one hotel for the whole 4 years. (and them some)

Northern Ontario,
Don't be so silly. 24 Sussex belongs to all Canadians, not Trudeau

Whether we fix or abandon 24 Sussex is one issue. Boomer's saltiness is something completely different
Dumb an Dumber in complete agreement....the debate obviously over....

I see you're still salty. Are you ever going to get over it and at least try and offer something to the discussion or are we going to have to continually put up with your silly trolling?

Thousands were sold off to property companies and then leased back.

See above King Halite of Tumbleweed Gulch.

In a real sense it is his mansion in that he's paying rent (one of the perks of being P.M.) while he's "renting" it is his house!

Wait till you see the bill for the center block of parliament. As soon as the west block is finished parliament will move in there and then center block will be gutted for a massive reno. I'm sure it'll run into the billions.

Whats going on with that is truly insane. The renovations began at least a year or two before I moved here and are still going on. Ive been here over five years now. It wouldnt have been so expensive if past governments of both parties had spent a little here and there over the years on maintenance. Instead they let all three buildings slowly decay for decades. The same goes for 24 Sussex. That place has needed work for decades. The longer you put this stuff off the more you have to spend when you eventually get to it.

Strawman. Its not his. And he isnt the only one who would benefit from it. His successors would too. A lot of these things should have been done decades ago.

There may be a method to their madness. Borrowing money is really cheap right now, not to mention if unemployment is high, they might be able to get the labour cheaper. You gotta think about these things. :)

meh Salvage what is useful, level the rest, and built something new.

they're public servants out them in government housing projects
Or that and use the property to house the homeless.

One issue can be fixed, the other one can't be so don't waste your time. Let the homeless in and they can renovate it for a lot less.

I think with today's prices for materials and labour, Anna, unless the integrity of the structure is terrible, they'd be money ahead to fix it. I wonder how many square feet the shack entails? Four or Five thousand?

Holy sh*t, it's a f**King mansion. Kind of makes 10 mil look like a drop in the bucket!

1150 square meters in 34 rooms does seem a bit extravagant as a single- family dwelling. Our main floor is less than 93 square meters, we have 6 rooms on main floor, and we raised two kids comfortably. The kids are gone and now we have two spare rooms for visitors.
