Uh, yes, yes you do. I will say this though, when the time comes that Canadians are more likely to be the victim of a violent crime on any given day than they are of winning the lottery AND getting struck by lightning on the same day, I might agree with your sentiment. I'd also accept if you live in or work/spend a lot of time in bear country. Although anything smaller than a .44 or.45 won't do you much good

You have your opinion...I have mine and a .45 lol

Jin, I bet your stats are even lower than 0.0045% for rural areas like the one I am in. But even if I wander into town I am way more likely to be mowed down by some idiot with a steering wheel in their hand and not paying attention to driving than I am another sort of violent crime.

A new Petition may be required since Steven Blaney is no longer Public Safety Minister .......

Northern Ontario,
I've had a couple or three bear encounters while prospecting and was glad to be licensed and carrying,
The first time doesn't count because the bear just snorted and walked away....
The second time the bear charged and about 30ft away, a split second before I was about to pull the trigger....he stopped, fake charge, and he walked away....
The third time, it was a bear cub that wanted to play with me, while the sow was making noises in the bush and I couldn't see her, exactly where she was...
Now if you can imagine a guy holding a .44 magnum in his right hand and throwing rocks with his left at playful bear cub to chase him away.....
That time again the bear cub left to join his mother and I walked backwards for the longest time with .44 in my hand.
You might say I never did need that handgun, and it never saved my life even the time I shot and buried a sickly looking fox that might have had rabies.
But damn .....I felt a little more secure because I had it with me!

Don't expect any more gun freedoms in this country in the next 4 years.

Why can't you just apply for an Authorization to Carry under our current laws?
You can, but there has to be a specific need for it. In Canada, claiming a need for self-defense without proving said need will result in your application being denied.
To date, only about 50 private citizens have been issued permits to carry in public.

Winchester 1895 hand me down, .410 and 12 gauge. Used to hunt birds but never really had the bug. It's just like fishing. Way easier to golf all day and pick up something at the grocery store.

Yeah leave the hunting and fishing to the real men, you go shopping with the women like a good boy.

I love fishing and hunting, I can't understand how anyone would not love the challenge of casting out a line and reeling in dinner, fresh.

I certainly can understand how holding a fishing rod can be a challenge to you

You just don't get it, the more rules, the more there is an under ground market and things are done illegally.

Honestly, why bother have a gun license in Canada, when you can go to the USA and pick up whatever you want at a gun show, and ammo from any corner store.

I certainly can understand how holding a fishing rod can be a challenge to you

You still constipated ??

Not embarrassed that I enjoy fishing and hunting.

...and you shouldn't be. You should be embarrassed that you find it a challenge. The lack of a challenge is precisely the reason it bores me. I can certainly understand how you can find it challenging though.

meh Grocery store fish; frozen crap from fishfarms. One good thing about grocery stores is, though, that they seem to help keep annoying people rushing around in cars buying stuff instead of annoying others in their boats. Let them fight each other on the roads and in checkout lines. =)

Anyways, I think we do not need unsubstantiated carry permits here.

Ron White accurately captures why hunting bores me as well. There's no challenge in it
