First China, Now Russia: US Navy Chief Debates European Escalation Amid "Fears For The Global System"

11/01/2015 - 15:10 Admiral John Richardson, chief of naval operations, told the FT that the navy was reassessing its global posture in the face of the Russian activity, which stretches from the Black Sea and Mediterranean to the Pacific. Amid China's island-building in the South China Sea (30% of global trade), and Russia's highest level naval activity in 20 years in The Mediterranean (20% of global trade), Richardson warns, rather ominously, the "ambiguous motivations" of China and Russia raised fears about the health of a global system that ensures freedom: "It again perturbs that global system," he said, adding that "the current model... has been threatened?"

Oh noes, that could mean fewer imports of cheap, Chinese made garbage. Not to mention how terrible it would be if all those US corporations in China had to relocate back to the US and hire Americans at a decent wage again. Those goddam Chi-coms, always givin' the poor Yanks a hard time.

Perhaps we should hold it in North America this time, create local jobs galore and the reconstruction will take decades.
Welcome to New Toronto.

US Military Gets 'Kindergarten' Grade According to Influential Report

James Jay Carafano, America’s leading expert in national security and foreign policy challenges, has criticized the current state of the US military, calling it “not a bad grade for kindergarten,” but certainly “not much to show for a commander-in-chief after seven years of stewardship over America’s military.”
His comments on The Heritage Foundation website follow the assessments of the US military index, released by the Foundation in its “2016 Index of US Military Strength” report.
The report concluded that the US’ military posture is rated as “marginal” for its Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and Nuclear power, trending toward “weak”, and is just plain “weak” for the Army.

Yeah that reminds me in a few more years I can draw sochul suckurity

I hope there's something left in the pot for you, word is unfunded and underfunded, and three years out might be quite different.

In his book Generational Accounting, Laurence Kotlikoff takes an eye opening look into America’s growing fiscal gap. What Kotlikoff describes as ‘America’s Hidden Credit Card Bill’, is getting exponentially larger everyday.
Many people in America may be aware of the national debt ($18.2 Trillion), but not many may be able point out the country’s current unfunded liabilities. Unfunded liabilities are simply, committed future expenditures that haven’t been realized just quite yet.
If you add up all the promises that have been made for spending obligations, including defense expenditures, and you subtract all the taxes that we expect to collect, the difference is $211 trillion. That’s the fiscal gap. This is America’s true debt.

The big ticket items on this list include; Social Security, Medicare, Medicare Prescription Program.& Medicaid. These 4 combined soar over $126 Trillion in future unfunded costs.

I think the wars going on today are useless for anything other than making money for the arms industry.
The rules of engagement have become so sissified that the wars aren't really wars at all.
The only reason to go to war is to vanquish the enemy. The only way to vanquish the enemy is to attack; strike fast, strike hard and do whatever it takes to win. That's how WW11 was won.
War is hell. There cannot be war without collateral damage. but that is what Western countries today are trying to achieve. It is plain ridiculous!

I hear experts who are veterans interviewed, saying what needs to be done. The interviewer asks, "but wouldn't that be too dangerous?" How dumb can it get? War IS dangerous! If you can't stand the heat, stay the hell out of the kitchen!

What they have achieved is a general consumer consensus that collateral damage is very limited because of very sophisticated intell and targeting. This is complete BS, dead civilians and burned out hospitals and power stations cause the enemies resolve to wilt and hasten victory to those willing to target the hearths of the enemies families. The productive civilian is always the target in the end.

Um. . . no, it isn't. World War II was won by a long buildup and an extensive bombing campaign. It was 4-5 years before they landed any troops.

Amateurs talk tactics, politicians talk strategy. Professionals talk logistics.

And humanists, humanitarians, and the wise talk of the stupidity and waste of war.
