I thought Daniel Craig was the best of the rest after Sean Connery.

The problem is Connery set the bar so high that no one else has really come close to urbane, icy malevolence of the archetype he set. I just hope they don't go with kinder, gentler stereotype they go to on occasion (Roger Moore, Pierce Brosnan).

I thought Skyfall was very well done. It's cinematography and poduction design was excellent. It also brought back the hard driving horns and guitar of the sound track of Goldfinger. Spectre is by the same director, Same Mendes, so i'm expecting good things.

As always when a new Bond film is on its way we all start to wonder which famous artist is to record the theme song.

This time, Radiohead and Ellie Gouding, amongst others, have been rumoured to be recording the theme song for Spectre.

Ellie Goulding has been the favourite, and was even seen leaving the world famous Abbey Road studios on Monday, but now the new favourites are Oxfordshire rockers Radiohead after a £15,000 bet was placed on them.

Adele sang the theme for the last Bond movie, Skyfall, in 2012.

Radiohead are now the favourite to record the new James Bond soundtrack, after a £15,000 bet was placed on the band, according to reports.

A spokesperson for William Hill told MailOnline: 'We can confirm that someone did enter one of our shops requesting to place a £15k bet on Radiohead at odds of 10/1.

'On top of that, we have seen loads of smaller bets that have forced the odds down to 6/4 from 10/1.

New contenders: Radiohead are now the favourite to record the new James Bond soundtrack, after someone requested to put a £15,000 bet on the band

'A gamble like this suggests that an announcement could be coming soon whether it be Radiohead or another artist.'

MailOnline has contacted a spokesperson for Radiohead for comment.

Ellie Goulding had been the favourite to record a piece for the iconic movie franchise and she did nothing to quash the rumours when she was pictured leaving the Abbey Road studios on Monday.

A spokesperson for William Hill told MailOnline: 'We can confirm that someone did enter one of our shops requesting to place a £15k bet on Radiohead at odds of 10/1 to perform the Spectre track

Showbiz 411 claimed she has a song registered with BMI Music called Spy.

The 28-year-old only added fuel to the fire when she posted a snap of herself leaving the studio, captioning the post: 'That's a wrap!'

The singer, who has been recording unknown material at the legendary music studios, was one of the favourite artists in the running to have recorded the track for the the latest 007 movie after Sam Smith denied he was doing it.

A knowing smile: Pop singer Ellie Goulding left Abbey Road studios in London on Monday amid reports she has a song registered with BMI Music called Spy, which could be the soundtrack for the new Bond movie

'That's a wrap!': The Love Me Like You Do songstress teased fans with a message via Instagram, posting a snap of herself walking out of the studios - having apparently finished a project

Already done? With Ellie declaring she's finished at the studio, Sam Mendes revealed earlier this month that Spectre's soundtrack has already been recorded - leading many to believe Ellie is the artist behind it

More hints: Ellie's first hint was earlier on in July when she tweeted the name of the film soundtracked by Paul McCartney in 1973

With Ellie working on secret material at Abbey Road studios, where Adele recorded the previous Bond movie Skyfall's soundtrack, the post also seemed to hint that she is the voice of Spectre's track.

And this hasn't been the first case of Ellie dropping a hint, with the Halcyon hit-maker dropping a Bond-themed clue, when she tweeted 'Live and let die' earlier this month - the name of the 1973 Bond film with Paul McCartney at the helm.

Meanwhile, Sam Mendes has revealed that the theme has been written, with the artist's identity to be revealed soon.

Speaking in an interview with BBC news earlier this month, the director revealed that the theme song is already finished.

Ruled out: Sam Smith took steps to distance himself from the rumours surrounding the project, and ruled himself out of the race

Pierce Brosnan talks about chances of gay James Bond
WENN.com
First posted: Tuesday, August 25, 2015 06:21 PM EDT | Updated: Tuesday, August 25, 2015 06:38 PM EDT
Former 007 Pierce Brosnan has opened a new debate about the sexuality of the super spy character by insisting longtime James Bond producer Barbara Broccoli would never allow the well-suited action man to be gay.
The actor played Bond in four films before handing over the reigns to British hunk Daniel Craig, who is set to star in the latest instalment, Spectre, when it hits cinemas later this year.
Asked about the future of the franchise in a recent Details interview, Brosnan mused on whether 007 could ever be gay and stated, "Sure. Why not?", before adding, "Actually, I don't know how it would work. I don't think Barbara would allow a gay Bond to happen in her lifetime. But it would certainly make for interesting viewing."
Brosnan didn't elaborate on why he believes Broccoli, who has been involved with the franchise since the late 1980s, would be opposed to the idea, but he suggested a Bond of a different ethnicity would be interesting.
Brosnan said, "Let's start with a great black actor being James Bond. Idris Elba certainly has the physicality, the charisma, the presence. But I think Daniel Craig will be there for a while yet."
Elba and Damian Lewis have both emerged as fan favourites to take over the role of Bond when Craig steps down.

Sam Smith Bond song splits opinion

25 September 2015
BBC News

Reactions to Sam Smith's theme song for new James Bond film Spectre vary widely following its unveiling earlier on Nick Grimshaw's Radio 1 breakfast show.

Former Bond actor Sir Roger Moore called Writing's On the Wall "very haunting and wonderfully orchestrated".

But other Twitter users have been less complimentary, with one describing it as the "worst Bond theme ever".

BBC entertainment correspondent Colin Paterson said it was "good enough, but not a classic".

The song, whose full version runs for 4 minutes and 38 seconds, begins with the words: "I've been here before / But always hit the floor."

"I've spent a lifetime running, and I always get away," it continues. "But with you I'm feeling something, that makes we want to stay."

"I think it's a song about a man deciding to quit it all for love," Paterson said of the track on BBC Breakfast, comparing its melody to that of Michael Jackson's 1995 single Earth Song.

He also suggested it was far superior to Die Another Day, the much-derided song Madonna contributed to the 2002 Bond film of that name.

Comedian David Schneider was not convinced, greeting the song's release with the words: "The name is Bland. James Bland."

Yet fellow comic Omid Djalili was far more effusive, tweeting the song had left him "in a broken heap."

"If you're not moved by this song you don't have a pulse," wrote Djalili, who had a small role in 1999 Bond film The World is Not Enough.

Writing's On the Wall may be partially inspired by this scene from Spectre

Smith is the first solo male British act to perform a Bond film's theme song since 1964, when Tom Jones was heard over the opening credits of Thunderball.

The last Bond theme, Adele's song for 2012's Skyfall, peaked at number two in the UK singles chart.

No Bond song has ever reached the top of the UK chart, and opinion is divided whether Smith's track will do so.

Canadian pop star Justin Bieber is currently at number one and is expected to remain there when this week's chart is revealed later on Friday.

Smith himself has said he and his songwriting partner, Jimmy Napes, wanted to create a song that was "timelessly classic".

"This isn't about me, about my life," he said in a promotional video for the song. "I just hope people listen to it and think, 'That's Bond'."

The song's title appears to derive from a scene in Spectre, viewed briefly in the film's trailer, in which James Bond's name is found scrawled upon a wall.

The first time I saw Daniel Craig he reminded me of a blonde Alfred E. Newman and I had to laugh. It kind of fit my opinion of Bond flicks being comedies.

The only Bond I liked was Sean Connery. All the others are imposters. There was another movie I liked that was similar. An obvious copy cat of the Bond films called In Like Flint. James Coburn with the lead role but Connery was the best spy hero.

Some of the Bond movies were ok. I like the Coburn Flint movies because they are blatantly satirical whereas the Bond ones are a bit more subtly satirical. Funny stuff anyways.

I had to google this 8k thing to see wth it was.
Oh, ffs! A new step to take Hollywood nonsense and make it look real. I can pass on being able to see the skin pores on people and the bacteria feeding on their dead skin.

Just six days to go....

Final trailer....

Quote from the film:

Why did you come?
Bond: I came here to kill you.
And I thought you came here to die.
Bond: Well, it's all a matter of perspective.

They've always been more of a comedy than anything else.

never heard of him. Aussie?

No, he's British. He was born in Shirebrook, Derbyshire. He's well-known for starring in action thrillers, and is probably best-known for his roles in the Guy Ritchie crime films Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998 ), Snatch (2000) and Revolver (2005). He also appeared in the 2003 remake of The Italian Job. He's also a martial artist and former diver. He's got all the attributes of Bond - white (Bond's father is Scottish and his mother is Swiss, so there's no way Bond can ever be black), male, British and oozing masculinity.
