Yeah, there's this relatively new thing out there called "globalization". Once upon a time, US corporations provided Canadians with lots of good paying jobs because they had to have a presence here in order to sell their products. The auto industry was a prime example. They employed tens of thousands of Canadians for decades. These days foreign manufacturers are not obligated to employ one single Canadian in order to sell their products here. Hell, the fact that the middle class is shrinking while the lower class is growing and has been for a while now is indicative that our economy isn't really doing all that great.
