How do you figure it was a whoosh? I completely understand what you were doing.

Pics of the white kids with guns... not terrorists. Pic of the muslim boy with the clock in the brief case... terrorist.

Now we all know the muslim kid is not a terrorist and school officials were caught off guard with the device in a brief case that happened to be a clock.

Nevertheless you had your tantrum... per usual.

Oh yeah. I always give a reddie when someone gives one to me first.

Oh I remember now. You deserved it though. :)

With regards to the teen in Twila's post, I have this to say. While it may not really be fair, and it could be considered racial profiling, I don't think they did anything wrong in the end. It is better to err on the side of caution nowadays. Heck, you've got that Al-Quida buffoon telling terrorists and terrorist wannabes to commit lone wolf attacks in the US and the West. I would rather have to apologize to him and his family than have to apologize to the families of the victims that there could have been had this really been a bomb and they didn't do anything about it.

With regards to the teen in spammy's post. He was just an idiot. What did he think would happen if he tried to bring that into an airport? Whether it was a prank, or just a huge brain-fart, he should have known better.

When it happens to you?

And you missed the point entirely. . . per usual.

It's OK, Eagle. You're a good man.

I cannot believe anyone could be so completely naive as to think this would be a good idea.

It's freaking insane.....we live in a world where if you leave your lunch bag in the lobby of some buildings they will call in the bomb squad.

You need to walk through metal detectors to get in to most schools.

You can be arrested for making a bomb joke in an airport and they have signs saying as much.

If you make the shape of a gun with your fingers........you can get suspended from some schools.

And now we have Twitter from Obama encouraging other kids to do the same thing? I have to say, never really bothered much with US politics but holy cow do I now see clearly where so many think Obama is a freaking idiot....because he is.

No I didn't. I knew exactly what you were doing. You do it all the time.

Oh no... no no SLM. Bringing a home made electronic device/ time clock in a brief case to school is a great idea. Especially when it started beeping in his back pack. No need for concern here.

There appears to be a lot of fear in Texas.

'Looks like a bomb'

A 14-year-old Muslim boy who loves to invent things was handcuffed and arrested after bringing a homemade clock to his Texas high school. The arrest prompted speculations of Islamophobia, but police say they won't charge him with creating a "hoax bomb."
Ahmed Mohamed, a ninth grader from Irving, Texas, was eager to impress his teachers with his newest creation – a clock which he invented in just 20 minutes, consisting of a circuit board and a power supply wired to a digital display. The clock and its wirings were all strapped inside a case.

But when he showed his engineering teacher the clock, he didn't receive the response he was hoping for.

“He was like, ‘That’s really nice,’” Ahmed said, as quoted by the Dallas Morning News. “‘I would advise you not to show any other teachers.’”

Ahmed took his advice, keeping the invention in his bag for the rest of the day. But when the clock's alarm went off during English class, the teacher complained.

When the 14-year-old showed his teacher the source of the beeping, she said: “It looks like a bomb.” Ahmed responded by saying it didn't look like a bomb to him.

Geeez
Like I said, the "war on terror" was lost years ago.

<Sings,
"Knee deep in security we'll stray
We'll keep the terrors away
And if I see you in the garden, in the moonlight
Will you shoot me?
Please, tiptoe through the terrors with me">. (Apologies for altering the lyrics, Mr.s Dubin and Burke)

Of course you do. Because you're so damn clever.

So, if a Muslim with a backpack in a crowd is an automatic terrorist threat, what's a white man with a confederate flag outside a black church?

Geeez WTF? It's a freakin flag. I don't see the biggie.

People sure get sensitive a lot and too much. Just about everything seems to be a symbol for something risque or evil.

(I only said thatbecause it's a chance I could slip in my favourite tv ad):

I currently feel that people use their being offended as an to attempt to control others, and their environment, or current surroundings. They feel that by making that announcement others will stop doing or saying whatever has caused them to feel uncomfortable. It's a childish attempt at manipulation since their statement doesn't decrease those feelings.

You're probably right. I've always found it's much better to smile at people who offend me, and run up their bills.

A couple of times I challenged people who used racist terminology in meetings and such. Now I just say to myself "That cost you a thousand bucks. That cost you a thousand more. There's another thousand."

Heck, let 'em feel superior. They're paying for the privilege.

I feel there's a difference between being disrespected and feeling offended .

racist terms are meant to make you feel disrespected.

Offended
resentful or annoyed, typically as a result of a perceived insult.

Disrespect
show a lack of respect for; insult.
