Canada already has an abundance of social services to prevent that. It is not the taxpayer's responsibility beyond that. Perhaps their father shouldn't have been such an a-hole if he cared about what happened to his kids.

FWIW-Port Hardy is a grim little sh¡thole and this surprises no one who's ever been there.

We are talking about a man's life here, not someone's opinion of Port Hardy. I spent several months in the 70s and 80s working in Port Hardy and I would argue the opinion of the place you stated is your own. I would guess the 4,000 or so people who live there wouldn't share your opinion. I suppose that many people who have spent too much time in a sh*t hole like Vancouver might have warped opinions!

I can decide whomever is an a$$hole or not. I am not a court of law. And my rule is, unless and until the special investigators find that the cops acted incorrectly, then a guy waving a knife around and threatening people is an a$$hole. Even with the report, it could be he is just an a$$hole who should have been dealt with in another way like a tazer.

So which side of the fence are you arguing? Are you for or against social services? Any alleged kids will be taken care of via existing social services. Also you are the only one who has made this guy a father. He could have been a single a$$hole and not yet having spawned. There has been no mention of kids in any report.

What if he had stabbed someone?... Would you be the one to go to the victims family and let them know that it's OK he was stabbed because he isn't an @sshole and may or may not have mental issues?

Perhaps you'd be the guy to demand an investigation as to why the cops didn't take care of this prior to the stabbing (had there been one)... Who would take care of their little ones?

As for knee-capping the guy, that is entirely unrealistic unless the taxpayers demand that all police be former Hollywood actors that have experience in shooting the weapon outta the villain's hand
