It takes an interesting mind to insist that all cops are stupid thugs, and then insist that anything they do can't be because they're stupid thugs, but must be because the Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy ordered them to crush the Bill of Rights by pointing a gun at a reporter.

And where did you read where anyone here said "all cops are stupid thugs", Dear Lawyer???

The only place you saw that is in your warped imagination because nobody wrote that here - understand that Dear Lawyer??

I don't think that that is quite it. The police sure act as if they are at war. They may very well believe it.

It's a dangerous war against crime!

Who is the enemy? Criminals, evil-doers.

Who are they? potentially anyone.

Therein lies the problem. No one is above suspicion. They are "at war" ergo they end up at war with the general populace.
maybe I didn't explain it fully enough or I am misunderstanding you but I believe we are saying exactly the same thing no?

The problem with the police, and this is not limited to the US, you get the sense that embrace this siege mentality of "US vs The World." As opposed to "US vs The Perps." The police are supposed to serve the public and protect them against perps not not see the perps and the public as one and the same.

The police in Toronto have "To Swerve and Protect" written on the sides of their cruisers and hardly anyone gets run over by them.

Twelve shootings in the past two days and 33 murders so far in May; a triumph for progressives.

There will be no national movement on the bloodbath that took place this weekend in Baltimore.

I guess "the movement" thinks these killings were justified.

As long as it gives the poor little teabagger victims something to be happy about.

Teabagger victims?

What are you whining about now?

It's fun watching the teabaggers pretend to give a damn. Baltimore has had a high homicide rate, unusually resistant to measures taken to control it (compared to other cities) for at least 30 years now. You never knew or cared. Now suddenly you're posting about it. I wonder why?

Is it because there was one night of rioting? Or is it because six Baltimore cops were charged in a highly suspicious death?

As I asked before, exactly what is it you're so upset about? What can we do to make you happier?

Which has me puzzled as to why you are thinking I am upset.

I am sorry that weekends like they had in Baltimore are an inconvenience to you.

Give the cops a free pass on anything they do?

Now look who's being a silly pony today!
