Quote:
Some observers see the Christian church in Canada disappearing rapidly and Canadian society now morphing into a post-Christian society. Some observers point to the Anglican Church of Canada as an example. Between 1961 and 2001, the Anglican Church lost 53% of its membership, declining from 1.36 million to 642,000. Writer Michael Valpy has humorously conjectured that if the Anglican Church continues to lose 13,000 members each year, then by 2061, there will be 1 Anglican left in Canada. The decline is greatest in British Columbia, especially on Vancouver Island. In 1955 about 40% of the Island population was Anglican. Today 1.2% is Anglican.

There are no Church of England people in Canada, you numpty. That's why it's called the Church of England.

As for the decline in Anglicanism in Canada: It's YOUR problem, not mine. Whilst Anglicanism is decreasing, Musulmanism in increasing.

Canada's not becoming a "post-Christian" society. It's becoming a Muslim society. You need to ewake up and smell the Twinings.

I just asked Jenny what she used for her cream soups..... and when I mentioned Carnation evaporated...... OMG you should have seen the look on her face. It was like I was suggesting sacrilege. Heavy cream only when she is making her cream of *.
lol....yes heavy cream is the thing to use if your body can stand it...was a day I could eat whatever I wanted and as much as I wanted but sadly, those days are gone

the Carnation is real milk just has had the fat and some of the liquid removed

as long as we get the moderates it doesn't matter

but for the sake of argument, England is up to 5% and we have just over 3%, our country is vast and we have a smaller population compared to England so do the numbers hon....sucks to be you with your attitude then eh?

plus most of ours aren't the burqua wearing radicals and ours don't live in little ghettos of segregation they live just like the rest of us...my city likely has a higher percentage just because we have a college and two universities here with engineering being a focus

I'd say he has a good grasp of reality, in Briddan, at least. One Muzzie can kick 20 Englishmen's butts.

Like this?

I feel you, bro. Have you seen the PRICE of a leather hooded tabard at Wilson Leather Goods?

And the earholes are extra!

Confession of a barbarian:
When I was a tad, my uncle gave me one from his military days. Because it was way too large, I cut it up for slingshot pockets. I still feel guilty.
Slingshot manufacture has fallen on hard times since the invention of tubeless tires.

And it will triple in just the next 15 years (whereas it will only double in Britain and America).

Let's face it. "Post-Christian" is just a trendy way of saying "Islamified." The fact that Christianity is in decline in Canuckistan whilst Islamism is on the rise should be a cause of concern (for you).

Atheists will out number all religions before that happens. Then the Christians and Muslims will not be able to keep Canada back in the dark ages with their repressive doctrine and constant challenges to any social progress we made over the past 100 years.

Hey, this thread is about the Dalai Lama and Tibetan Buddhism. Focus, please, focus. I wonder if there is a corollary to Godwin's Law stating that eventually every thread will turn to why we should hate/fear Muslims. Existential fears anyone? A cuppa Red Rose? Carnation with that?

Be honest, have you grown tired of the three Abrahamic religions arguing which one is Gawd's answer to the credulous? I know I have. So, with your indulgence, let's focus on a religion without a Big Gee - Tibetan Buddhism.

Right now, His Holiness, the Fourteenth Dalai Lama is dispensing wisdom, drop by holy drop, like Carnation dripping from a can. But, he can't do it from Tibet. You see, Tibet is part of China and there has been a spat of historic proportions between the Chinese leadership and the Dalai Lama's gang.

Now, His Holiness is getting older. The big curtain is closing in. Reincarnation is a precept of Buddhism. If you were a Spade, an SLM, a Cliffy, or by geezus a Locutus, you couldn't choose if, how, when, or where you'd be born again. Crikey, even born againers couldn't. But, holy men, a lama like His Holiness could. This is where it gets interesting.

You see, HH doesn't want to come back as a Chinese incarnation beholding to Beijing. A puppet on a pulpit - nosiree! So to pee off the government, the Dalai Lama says he just might not come back. That'd serve 'em right.

Will the Dalai Lama reincarnate? - BBC News

If you were offering wisdom, like Carnation from a can, what would your advice be?

Perhaps I should have included a poll? SLM?

Bump. See how easy reincarnation is.
If you make a forensic analysis of the 14th Dalai's photos you will find that the pre 1979 ones don't match the post 1979 ones. In fact during that decade he practically vanished from the face of the earth. Then he is back, validated by the Nobel peace price and everything is just fine and dandy.
If he had died his large family would be left without a celebrity. According to Tibetan tradition a search had to be launched for his new incarnation. Of course they could just plant one of their grandkids with some peasant family out of sight (as was done at the time with the 14th), wander about a while then "discover" the plant. Lets not underestimate the cunning of the power hungry.

I cannot agree or disagree with your comment. But, thank you very much for adding context to this discussion. If you can add detail, all of us would be better able to make an informed decision.

I have heard of this photo evidence that the present Dali Lama is a fraud but so far nobody has produced this photo evidence. It woulkd sure be nice if someone did, CutDiamond?

This just in! Chinese authorities order the Dalai Lama to reincarnate.

China says Dalai Lama has to reincarnate | Reuters

From the article; quote:

But Padma Choling, the Chinese-appointed governor of Tibet, said that the Dalai Lama had no right to abolish the institution of reincarnation, underscoring China's hardline stance on one of the most sensitive issues for the restless and remote region.

"I don't think this is appropriate. It's impossible, that's what I think," he said on the sidelines of the annual meeting of China's parliament, when asked about the Dalai Lama's suggestion that his successor may not be his reincarnation.

"We must respect the historical institutions and religious rituals of Tibetan Buddhism," said Padma Choling, a Tibetan and a former soldier in the People's Liberation Army. "I am afraid it is not up to anyone whether to abolish the reincarnation institution or not."

Some claim the Dalai Lama is an imposter and is in fact a Muslim. Obama can relate.

Peace, my sister. The right view and the right understanding are two of the Eight Fold Path. Well done!

Latinos will bury their numbers. They will be smothered by numbers from Central and South America.

I believe BL has Briddish Existential angst.
