Sanitation Worker Jailed for Starting Work Too Early

A trash man in an Atlanta suburb is spending his weekends in jail for starting work too early.

Kevin McGill violated a city ordinance aimed at keeping working from waking people up.

Court Chief Prosecutor Bill Riley asked the judge to sentence McGill to 30 days in jail.

McGill doesn't apologize for locking sanitation workers up. He says 9-1-1 lights up when trash haulers come before 7 a.m. McGill, who didn't have an attorney with him when he was sentenced, is serving his time on the weekend.

His new attorney has filed a motion to withdraw his plea.

I need to know..........

Why is he starting 2 hours early?

Is he getting paid for those 2 hours?

How much is the fine and how many times has he been fined?

The prosecutor, Bill Riley, makes no apologies for locking sanitation workers up.

"Fines don't seem to work," Riley said.

He says they are a nuisance to sleeping residents.

McGill had only been on the job for three months.

Now he has to spend the next 14 weekends in jail, while he works during the week... after 7am.

Northern Ontario,
People are just pissed because they didn't put the garbage out in time.

They do that here in the summer time, when their scheduled run is done, they are finished for the day, so if they start at six their day is done at 3PM...which is nice, if they want to go to their cabin at the lake.
In the summer If I don't want to get up early, I just put the garbage out the night before in covered containers..

McGill is one guy who qualifies for crowd-funding, to the point where he can relocate to a more amenable community.
