I'll add my two bits worth in general (can't speak about this specific instance as I wasn't there) I think is incumbent upon the cops to do what ever is possible to save the life of a perpetrator no matter how deranged or evil the perpetrator is UP TO THE POINT of where public safety is jeopardized. At that point the safety of the innocent takes preference. Cops are supposed to be maintaining law and order, NOT PASSING SENTENCE.
From the video I saw, as soon as the suspect throws a rock at a officer he is trying to harm a officer of the law doing his job.
Game over.
Officer has the right to defend himself. That simple. If shooting him is the way he chooses to do that , that is up to him. I'm not going to judge him for it cause I haven walked a mile in his shoes.
In this instance, the rock thrower was jeopardizing the lives of all the motorists on the street. Any one of those drivers could have easily steered into a head-on collision or veered off into a pedestrian.
The above hypothetical represents a high probability of death to multiple individuals in terms of vehicular death. Buddy may as well as been shooting a gun randomly in a populated area.
Cops did their job in protecting the people at large from this idiot that didin't have a clue, or care, about the ramifications of his actions.... I fail to see why I should give a rat's azz about him

This is small town Washington State, chances are they don't have a specialized team that can respond in a reasonable amount of time.
