I found a channel that plays the old sh*t. Reminds me of better times. The stuff on tv these days I can't watch for more than thirty seconds. Wish I had a time machine sometimes.

Here in St Paul we have a channel that shows old tv stuff and three channels that show old movies. Lots of nostalgia buffs in this area.

There are shows that when I watch the last episode, I find myself sad that they are no longer on.

1. Lost: While I found the ending itself (as well as a lot of the last season) to be a letdown, I still found myself sad that the show was done. I had many fond memories of the show, and my favourite season was the second, as I loved the entire mystery involving the Hatch.

2. Fringe: I loved this show. It has the distinction of being one of the few shows that I watched the intro in it's entirety for the entire run. And the last episode? *sniff*

3. Magnum P.I.: Although Season 8 wasn't the greatest, I find that I miss Thomas (great name, by the way) Magnum's adventures in Hawaii.

4. Heroes: A show that started out so awesome, got really convoluted at the end. I still dug the show, and wished it was still around.

There are others, but this will do for now.

All in the Family was pretty well my favourite of all time. The whole cast was good............Archie, Edith, the Meathead, Gloria. I don't think I've laughed so hard since!

I completely agree!

When it was first run, I was pretty young of course. But I've always felt that, in an odd way, it helped me become a more open minded person as an adult. I mean, Archie was most definitely a real bigot, no disputing. But at the same time, you saw him as someone who cared about his family, worked hard, tried. You saw the good in him. And in his own way, he was really lovable. I think it helped me understand that we're all more than the sum of our parts. (Kind of a tall order for a sitcom eh? lol)

Yep. Sometimes I wondered about the depth of his love for the Meathead!:)

I wonder how well a show like that would fare in today's television landscape?

Personally, I thought it was a great show.

It would be a shame. Far better than a lot of the "reality" crap they've got on the air today.

Reality TV is lazy TV. I mean, it's all "entertainment" anyway but there's no reason you can't have something with some substance too it and have it be entertaining too.

i never missed it, but that show isn't a show for these times, wouldn't fit today, like many other
old tv shows.

No it wouldn't. Shows like Big Brother or Jersey Shore would get a pass, but All in the Family would be too "offensive" I'll bet. Lol.

Which is ironic. All In The Family is far more realistic than Big Brother or Jersey Shore could ever hope to have been.

Yeah, I knew they were thinking of rebooting it. It just might not be the same, especially since it won't have the same anticipation it had when it was first about to air (the original series).

Probably not well, unfortunately. And it was a great show.

Well, supposedly we are more tolerant today..................but are we really?

Politer might be closer.

One of the few shows I watch today with any regularity is "Pawn Stars" on the History Channel- it's both informative and entertaining and comical. (maybe "both" isn't the right word)

I was in St. Paul week before last. Loved Mickeys Diner.

If it was half as good as Sanford and Son, it was a winner!

It was better.

Sanford and Son was the Yank remake of Steptoe and Son and, like most Yank remakes of British shows (especially the comedies), they're never anywhere near as good as the original.

Albert (looking at an old newspaper): "Here, I remember this.'Mussolini invades Albania. King Zog flees.'"

Harold: "Well, that's nothing, mate. We've got king-sized fleas here."

I have a knack for getting wound up in series that get cancelled halfway through their story arc. A couple of recent efforts that I was sorry to see disappear were Kelsey Grammer's "Boss", and a somewhat obscure little number called "Carnivale". Both great watching even though you know they are going to leave you in limbo. It was great to see Grammer get away form his usual clown type roles and do a fantastic job of playing an absolute prick.
