I keep asking but no one answers thus my conclusion is...there was no excuse made by anyone

There is no excuse but there is always a reason. power is double bladed stuff

a rampant if largely unspoken problem on Native American reservations, in part a legacy of a boarding school system that was designed to assimilate students and subjected them to widespread sexual, emotional and physical abuse
Blame shifting is an excuse.

Good one Cliff.

In the end, you have a hard on for anything related to religion.

Like Petros said, the rates of abuse in the Church are 1/2 that of society, but you can't see that as it undermines your preconceived notions of what oughta be... I notice that you steer as far away as possible from talking about violence, child abuse, crime, wanton destruction of nature, etc when it focuses on FNs.... Doesn't square with your ideal of the 'Keepers of the Earth and Protectors of Gaia'
Yes, I suppose there are some people who excuse priests for abusing children. Fortunately for young women the pedophiles of the priesthood stuck mostly to altar boys in the past. It didn't save young girl children from the general population. Pedophiles have been discouraged from joining the priesthood for quite a number of years.. Could that be the reason that the number of those choosing this calling (priesthood) has dropped so drastically??

Have you always been this stupid, or have you had to work at it? It's already been pointed out that the rate of pedophilia in the priesthood is less than the general population. Therefore, any "drastic" drop in those choosing the calling would have nothing to do with if they were pedophiles or not.

It just blows me away that you are able to use a computer and logon to the internet.

I find it so hilarious when In disagreement with some, they either demand written proof (no matter the source or it goes quite contrary to the obvious) or they infer stupidity.

Doesn't work so why keep trying to squeak out from under by such tactics.

While priests are maintaining their numbers, the world population of Catholic Christians has burgeoned, so one priest, many times is spread over several parishes. The Vatican is no longer paying off the molested or shifting the offending sexual offenders of children to other parishes. They are allowing the priests to be charged & branded as sexual offenders. This more than anything will discourage many offenders.

So, since the general population of the world has grown immensely, the priesthood has merely stayed the same, of course pedophilia offenses of the priesthood would be less, than that of the general population wouldn't it??

I make up no statistics. They are facts.....Do you ever research anything on your own?? Of course not!! While I read everything I can find on a subject, then sort them out logically, you choose the information that you prefer to believe. NOW YOU post charts saying the opposite of anything I gave you above.

On the other hand don't bother!! If you believed the sky to be green, you would find the one chart that says it is in a certain rare configuration and throw it about as fact because it was in an obscure or flawed observation simply because you believe it. Now that is what most intelligent people would call a lesson in stupidity.

Yup, I have a problem with wilful stupidity and ignorance. I see now she has changed her tune. From the rolls are dropping drastically, to they are staying the same. Lol. Love it when idiots back track.

I checked that myself. The number of priests is remarkably consistent 1970-2013, while the Catholic population has doubled in that time.

Maybe she did a little post-post research, hence the backtrack.

Nope you expect everyone to take your word for everything you say; the onus is on you to prove what you say is true.....instead....you just ramble on like an old biddy....

If everyone who wrote Roman Catholic under "Religion" on the census every time they fill the questionaire....were "practicing" Catholics, they would need three times the number of priests they have now...
If all the ex Christians arguing in this thread would bother to go to a service on Sunday, they would notice the church almost empty, and that would be a church that in the 70's had three services on sunday because they didn't have enough room for only two, which is why they have one priest going to probably 3 different churches at different times each Sunday .

The key word should be practicing Catholics.

My gawd but you are unbelievably obtuse. If staying about the same numbers while the rest of the world grows is not.............means they are not loosing ground, I imagine cost of living raises should be dropped in your case, as you are not loosing a thing by staying the same.

So you also need a written menu with notes from the butcher, farmer etc. with your meals to prove that the steak you are eating is not chicken!! I would guess you have to make most of your own meals LOL.

Why does it upset you that Catholic Clergy are less than half as likely to engage in pedophilia? F-cks up your rants?

It doesn't personally,, considering my family is neither Catholic nor exposed to Indian medicine men for instance. No small children, either.

My point, originally, was to be that, unlike the pedophiles in open society, when caught, are exposed, branded and jailed, there are those protected under the cover of ideology. Secret societies, religions, clubs even some occupations are more prone to permit behavior otherwise forbidden

What irritates me is this constant necessity of defending my intelligence, and myself from those who have no interest in discussing a subject. My replies are very far from rants. When resorting to attacking the person rather than the points presented is ignorant behavior. It disrespects the purpose of a "discussion" forum and eventually defeats it.

Is that much different from the Teachers Union or the American Medical Association?
Can't say. There is no organisation called the Teachers Union in the U.S., and I don't really know about Canada.

Does the AMA reassign doctors to different areas, and even move them out of the country, to escape the consequences of their actions?

Not in Canada. And as far as I can tell neither in the US. Quebec, for awhile had some program where Doctors were obliged to serve a term in the native communities in exchange for their schooling. Not sure if this is still in force.

I am sure we have all heard on the news of some dentists and doctors who abused their patients under anesthetic.. This is usually in private practice again without supervision. On the whole in Canada most medical procedures are done under local anesthetic in offices and there is no public hospital that operates with a single patient and doctor in attendance. There is an anesthesiologist present, as well as at least one nurse. Perhaps someone from the US can update the rules & regs. there.
