Police now probing 3 complaints against Jian Ghomeshi

Toronto police are appealing for public assistance in their criminal investigation of former CBC star radio host Jian Ghomeshi now that three women have come forward to complain.

Insp. Joanna Beaven-Desjardins says investigators want anyone with evidence such as video, photographs or social media chats related to the case to contact them.

Publicist Andrea Grau confirmed Friday that one of the women who contacted police was Trailer Park Boys star Lucy DeCoutere.

Word of police involvement followed an announcement Friday by the CBC that the emergence of “graphic” evidence that Ghomeshi had caused physical injury to a person prompted his firing last Sunday.

Ghomeshi has said he has engaged in rough sex, but that it was always consensual, and said he was fired from CBC because of the risk that his sex life would become public “as a result of a campaign of false allegations.”

In a Facebook post Thursday, he said he plans to confront allegations “directly,” but said he won’t discuss “this matter” further with the media.

they should then act quickly to seize his computers, access his 'cloud' info, whatever, before he can somehow destroy anything that won't help his case.

CBC executives had seen Ghomeshi's videos and photos by Thurs, didn't fire him until Sunday but still didn't go to the police

Lookin' pretty damning for Ghomeshi now. In the beginning I was prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt, but that doubt has now shrunk down to the size of a pinhead. What is it now, 9 women who've come forward? Who are not connected, so no chance for collusion, telling pretty much the same story, with almost identical details about what he did and said, can't be a coincidence, plus the details that emerged in yesterday's Globe & Mail about the info he gave CBC management that he thought exonerated him but they thought was so awful they could not be seen as condoning it, so they fired him. Looks like Ghomeshi thinks anything but shouting NO and running screaming from his presence means consent. There appears to be real evidence the man's a swine.

Makes me sad and angry.

Lights dumps Ghomeshi as manager

The line up of people distancing themselves from Jian Ghomeshi keeps growing.
The former CBC radio host was fired earlier this week as allegations that he abused women became public.
Ghomeshi was fired on Friday by electro-pop singer Lights, whose career he managed.
At first, Lights came to Ghomeshi’s defence chastising the CBC for firing him.
She called Ghomeshi a complete gentleman and a super hero, but her tune changed with a Friday evening Facebook post.
“I posted comments about Jian Ghomeshi the day after he was dismissed by the CBC where I rushed to defend my manager of 12 years. I am now aware that my comments appear insensitive to those impacted and for that I am deeply sorry,” Lights wrote.
“This is to confirm that as of now I will be parting ways with Jian Ghomeshi as my manager. I hope everyone can heal from this.”
Ghomeshi was also dropped by his agent on Friday.
The Agency Group — a firm behind more than 2,000 entertainers — released a short statement confirming “that they are no longer the agent of representation for Jian Ghomeshi.”
Friday wasn’t a good day for Ghomeshi in the literary world as well.
“In light of recent events, Penguin Canada has made the decision not to publish Jian Ghomeshi’s latest book,” said spokesman Tracey Turriff.
Rock singer Amanda Palmer also took to Facebook on Friday to uninvite Ghomeshi from attending her book tour on its Toronto visit.
Two public relation firms — one known for managing clients facing scandals — have also parted ways with Ghomeshi since allegations against him surfaced.
Ghomeshi could not be reached for comment.

Happy International Women's Day. I still believe that the world would be a better place if it were ruled by women.

Laura M. Mac Donald ‏@xolamac

@jianghomeshi shameless pandering.

@xolamac actually no. i'm a women's studies grad who has long felt this way. you might try being less dismissive. thanks.

sure sure jian.

He really needs to stop. Seriously. He's said his piece, he's made his case. If it is as he claims, then the smarter thing to do would be to maintain silence. Because it does come across as pandering.

I see it as damage control more than anything else.

Not if he's coming out with statements like that first tweet. Damage control is more direct and a specific to counter a point, his version seems to be quite out of control right now. Those are the times when damage control actually does more damage than good.

The notion that he fired at the CBC with a $50MM lawsuit, when he is unable to do so (unionized employee) tells a great deal about his ideals and arrogance.

The twitter statement (especially the first) is a hail Mary pass at an attempt of garnering the support of women... At least, that's my opinion
