If you hate someone enough to assault them, it really doesn't matter what the motivation of your hate is. Hate crime laws are silly.

Hate crime laws are ridiculous. Killing someone is killing someone, it sure as hell is never done out warm fuzzy bunny feelings.

I've thought that for years. When you kill/assault someone it's not because you love them.............generally. Some people who get killed/assaulted deserve to be hated.

No, you're right. But if a specific law were enacted then wouldn't they be able to do more to prevent the actions of these kinds of people?

I will admit my grasp of the intricacies of the law is rather poor.

I think you tend to get into trouble with the charter and the legal system when you try to define 'these kinds of people'. There are no generalizations about anybody that apply to everybody.
