When you're done reading the position of the American College of Pediatricians, check them out on Wikipedia. They're a right-wing group founded in 2002 to oppose abortion, adoption by gays, marijuana legalisation, and pretty much run the table on all the right-wing positions. They are not a neutral, scientific organisation, and not generally recognised as the national professional group of pediatricians (that would be the American Academy of Pediatricians).

Main opening quote from that article..."ABSTRACT. The American College of Pediatricians concurs with the body of scientific evidence that human life begins at conception—fertilization." Please note that was 40 plus years ago.

So does every other animal life. So... that puts us on the level of every other mammal. But hey do we eat calves, you bet, lamb, yes, Goat, of course. Humanity a mammal like whales, which we have nearly wiped off the face of the earth not for food, but for oil, and mustn't forget elephants who are killed for their magnificent tusks.

Now if "life" begins at fertilization, what makes the human species so much more special than all the other mammalian species??

It appears that there is another prejudice rearing it's ugly head. Now it is species' prejudice!! What can possibly make the human animal more valuable than every other one?

because I'm human and I consider myself and the rest of the human race to be special. To be above all other animals on this planet. Considering our position, I believe I am quite correct in that thinking. You want to call that a prejudice, go for it. Doesn't bother me at all.

Yep. A wholly-owned subsidiary of the American Life League, again trying to pass itself off as a neutral outfit.

You can give it whatever fancy name you want. If the organisation begins its enquiry with the conclusion already decided, it ain't neutral, or scientific, or philosophical. It's political.

Are they wrong? SHow scientific opposing facts.

They aren't facts. They're undefined terms.

That comes over loud and clear. Do you also consider males more special than females, heathens less Christians? How about being honest about where those prejudices come from.

As for scientific proof, I already have.....Remember the lesson on mammals and how we are like all others in that group.

"males more special than females", nope, other way around actually.\

I'm assuming you mean "heathens less than Christians".... sorry, you'll have to define "heathen", I have no idea what you are referencing since I don't use that word in regards to any one.

How bout YOU be honest with your prejudices.

Your scientific proof didn't say that life began at some arbitrary time after conception.

Heathens are non-believers, pagans etc.

The products of conception are present in mammals when donations from male and female unite. But they are simply that .....they may go on to become a living being if allowed to continue to develop. At this point without a brain or lung development, it will not be aware, cannot think and without lung development, cannot breath. It is not a baby until it is born. It is not viable as a separate entity until that point. Murder is not applied to spontaneous abortions, so why attempt to use it in connection with abortions done before that point?? Most thinking individuals, know it is used for shock value, not because it is fact.

This is identical to all species of mammals to which humans belong. Every species is special, and humans are not more so than any others. In fact, we are probably the most damaging species the earth has spawned.

"allowed to continue" There we go, nice of you to admit that you support NOT "allowing".

Of course not, if someone died suddenly, would that be murder? Really, try to keep it within the realm of reality. Murder is when someone kills another with purpose. An abortion fits that definition.

Of course I do, just as I would support anyone who wished to continue with the pregnancy. I support above-all the freedom to choose....you know like the free will Christians are supposed to be able to enjoy.

LOL. Actually in the realm of reality it would be murder if the person was poisoned, stabbed in the heart, or shot in the head. Anyone murdered can die slowly or suddenly. Murder is when someone kills a PERSON. For goodness sake understand that a PERSON actually breathes, thinks and exists in the physical world. Following your logic, we would be murderers when we attempt to kill cancer cells. After all they are as much alive and growing sometimes even faster than a developing embryo.

So do I. Completely and irrevocably.

It really wasn't that long ago that Blacks in America were NOT considered "persons", you do realize that, right?

So, an unborn child is comparable to cancer cells eh. So we have cancer cells and pieces of tissue.

I can't believe a developed and supposedly progressive nation such as Ireland would still have abortion banned, it's a disgrace and an abomination. It's in blatant violation of women's rights and only fuels dangerous situations for women who have to go abroad to get it done.

What do you mean "we?" I ain't killing it. I got nothing to do with it.

Our society lets people die, and even lets them be killed, in a number of circumstances, usually for the perceived benefit of someone else.
killing terrorist even if it means collateral damage ..yes
Killing the unborn and respecting women's right ... no
It is quite simple mind set ... with the underlining theme of messing with other peoples problems

Not quite......Would you support a woman's right to an abortion ?? Or do you feel she would be killing a "person" and vote against that right??

Yes, probably better than most.....on my honeymoon we stopped at a small grocery store in the Carolina's and bought tomatoes and lettuce. When we emerged, a white man came up to us and told us it was something we should not be doing!! If we needed to shop we needed to do it in a store run by whites.

Do you realize that women in a good portion of the world right now are not considered "persons". They are simply chattel and used as such. They do not even have a say on how their lives or bodies are used. They often do not have the freedom to leave home without permission. They are not considered candidates for an education. Do you wonder why some of us get a little upset when a person who has never been black or a woman or a native, non-Christian in this country continues to restrict our rights ?
