In many cases, because provinces like Ontario funnelled money away from the trades in schools.

Thank you Liberals...

Or made a joke of certain trades with deregulation that made Ontario Red Seals irrelevant in provinces they're still an apprenticeship in.

Thanks Bob Rae...

Maybe you should stop squinting at the issue. You're missing the big picture.

The 5000 Red Seal tradesmen from ON working in AB and SK are pumping $500,000,000 into the ON economy in take home pay. It must suck having travel to viable business friendly Provinces to build industries that will only keep the growth going in AB and SK.

Was it Harper who made ON a lousy place to invest in industry or is that up to the Province to fix?

You can thank successive Liberal governments for the state of manufacturing in Canada.

Nahh. If the Canadian people wanted change, they would get it regardless of party platform. The SHHTF needs to happen first before they wake up, but then we hope it isn't too late.

Another indicator that the western world is sick is the typical reaction and historical pattern of arms buildup and it's parallel increase in international threats. This is because making bombs and printing money is a temporary fix to financial conditions, and is a false reassurance that keeps minds off real issues that need to be addressed. It's like a credit card in the hands of governments and the people have one big party for a decade or so. They worry about paybacks only when the wars end. From the early thirties to the start of wars in Germany, factories humming and everyone with disposable income, albeit backed by unsupported paper money. One big happy party decade. Same in the US, arms production and support of the war effort created good times with paper money to spend.

Why do you think Obama suddenly has it in for Russia? It's a ploy to divert the US minds off their conditions of living, and has nothing to do with revolution in Russia (don't believe me? Reagan was having tea parties with then ally Sadaam, when all the while he knew about Saddam's genocide of the Kurdish people.). Obama knows that the best way to get Americans to divert attention is to create a phantom enemy. When he can convince sucker Harper to join, he has a patsy to support his argument at the UN.

Trouble is, the next global war will leave no land habitable, cancer cases off the charts, and no food that isn't poisoned.

We need to distance our ties from the US, become a challenger to wealthy Japan and China and start working so we can have disposable income and live decently. Unions are a negative thing in terms of obtaining or assessing global wage parity and the cost of goods. If Canadians still want them, they should at least make it a rule that the management is taken only from the pool of workers with no affiliation with questionable people.

No, I've been saying that solely focusing on the economy hasn't actually helped.

You're just being nitpicky about the wording.

This government's primary focus is the economy.

Well it's pretty damn clear what you said.

And as with the bulk of your silly anti conservative posts, it was based on lies and hyperbole, more than intelligence.

This government's primary focus is the economy.
As it should be, people need to eat.

And please don't fain that you're looking at the broader picture or the future. The bulk of the policy you push is short sighted and damaging, in the resent and future.

He does. Western Canada just like Chretein, Martin, Harper and Pony if next will carry that torch and pass it on to whoever it is after.

Only ON Provincial Govt can fix ON.

When the Western port and intermodal infratructure is finished ON will get plenty of "assembled in Canada" jobs for export to EU AF, ME. BC too. They have absolutely no manufacturing at all.

What do you mean? When you drive through B.C. you can't help but notice 3 or 4 shingle mills!
