Or have a 9mm or .40 hidden in a safe place, to defend yourself.. or in this case shoot this guy.

I have a .22 and in a few days a Glock .40

Looking to get a hold of a Winchester pre-74

Cops also have guns. On top of that, they have lots of training and generally at least a bullet proof vest.

Clearly that wasn't enough.

I tell you what... he's fukking lucky I'm not family to any of those fallen officers.. I would bring him out of hiding...

I would be going after his relatives/family as bait. Start with his bat shyte father.

I feel so bad for those officers and the families, the pain, anger, confusion and I'm sure the waiting for this bastard to be captured (preferably shot and killed while resisting arrest)

RCMP bring out armored vehicles in search for this guy.

From what I saw the guy was carrying a .308 Winchester M14 rifle (probably a Norinco) and a 12 ga shotgun. The shotgun is devastating, but would be stopped by a level 2A vest, the rifle would penetrate a police vest like a hot knife through soft butter.

He had any simple patrol officer walking in unawares seriously outgunned.

For sure. Any cop, anywhere could walk into a situation like this and there is only so much they can do.

My comment was in response to the one about how keeping a gun with you is a solution to problems like this. Clearly in this case having a gun wasn't enough.

One also has to be prepared to use it in a timely manner. Cops have rules of engagement that inhibit their ability to protect themselves in critical situations.
One more good reason why honest citizens must be allowed to arm themselves.

Northern Ontario,
If that ever happened in my area, I wouldn't impede the police in any way, but my guns and ammunition would not be locked up while this is going on.......

My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the three fallen officers and the two who are under-going surgery in hospital. Hope all the families still in the area remain safe and that they catch this person without harm coming to anyone else.

Oh relax...

You need to lighten up dude.. it's tragic, but it's life.. cops are killed in the USA and you never hear about it... it's common.

I really don't think this is a light subject. Three people are dead and the guy is still on the loose, so there very well could be more.
