Cliffy, If I were a fanatic, I would have hopped a flight months ago and you would be looking at my face pressed against your window pane now.

Dare you to open the curtains. :)
I doubt that you would have the metal to do so. I have been forged in the fire and many a Christian, Morman and JW has walked away questioning their beliefs, some have walked away from those beliefs altogether. My sword is my truth, my faith is my shield.

Cliffy, Methinks you attempt to hijack Scripture.

Ephesians 6:13...
Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

I do not attempt anything. My faith comes directly from the Source not the written word.

Twila, it's anyone that doesn't think like CJ and Motar. Anyone that doesn't believe what they believe. I am a "luke warm Christian" as far as they are concerned, but then, there's people like PoliticalNick who consider me a Christian fanatic. Go figure eh.
Gerry, Gerry, Gerry.
What am I going to do with you? Take it easy and enjoy the conversation.

Cliffy, The Written Word is the Source.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

That quote says nothing about the written word. Man wrote that stuff you call scripture, not god. It is only your opinion that god had anything to do with scripture. Most humans would disagree with you.

Christianity is a soft target. That is all. Attacking Christianity is just an outlet for the weak and miserable.

There is a difference between any given religion and the behavior of said religion's members. I can't think of any religion that was formed with evil intent in mind, for the most part they are all well intentioned. It's the human element with all its inherent human failings that turn things sour. Religion, for many, has become a convenient hiding place for unethical behavior, sort of like trade unions and those who have a lazy work ethic.

Beavs, you are a source of bewilderment and wonder.

How does one eventually break through to the mob and what is preventing them from being enlightened?

You keep asking questions that indicate you do not understand the long hard road of rebirth and it's famously narrow aspect. The mob is eternal, the mob rules the material man, the mob is there to instruct those able to see the light, the mob is a trial by fire of the aspirant. Only contemplation of evil will engender good

No, God and Jesus Christ are the "source".
Gerry, Jesus is God.

Well, hello Beavs. By rebirth do you mean sanctification?

Cliffy, I know most humans would disagree that the Bible is the inspired Word of God. Most humans denied the Christ when He walked among them.
Now we both get ridiculous (in our banter)....It is only your opinion "that God had nothing to do with Scripture..." We sit on the opposite side of the fence on this one, Cliffy.

I'm still waiting for the answer to an important question- Why do people keep quoting the Bible to confirm events mentioned in the Bible?

I think we would roll our eyes if Hindus used the Upanishads to confirm events described in the Upanishads.

If this is true:

Jesus is God.

Then how could Jesus have died for mans sins? Where's the sacrifice if he wasn't really going to die?

Or did Jesus become God once he died? What happened to the god that was there before Jesus' death?

JLM,
His sheep do not need other sources to confirm the existence of their Shepherd. We know His voice.

...and a Catholic bishop, and a Sinixt and who knows how many others. Or is it because we are all interconnected? I remember lives from the past but were they mine or someone else's? If you think you know the answers, then all I can say is - delusional.

Ok Mr. Reincarnated Cree Indian.

Twila,
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

God the Father
God the Son (Jesus)
God the Holy Spirit

One God in three Persons. NOT THREE GODS.
Christ died and rose from the dead. Easter celebrates the risen Christ.

This does not answer the questions. It might be better if you used your own words and not bible speak.

Sorry Twila, I am trying to multi task and am failing miserably.
Your Question: Then how could Jesus have died for mans sins? Where's the sacrifice if he wasn't really going to die?
He did really die.

Your Question: Or did Jesus become God once he died? What happened to the god that was there before Jesus' death?
Jesus did not become God once he died. He is God and always has been. There is/was no other god before Jesus' death (Refer to Trinity.) When Jesus was on the cross he spoke the following:
At noon, darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon. 34 And at three in the afternoon Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” (which means “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”).

This biblical concept One God/Three Persons is known as the Trinity. It is a huge topic deserving of more time.
