Sin tax is really an addiction tax

In theory perhaps but if there is a connection between smoking and intelligence, then we are taxing people because they are stupid. I'm not sure that's fair. You as a Liberal should understand the concept of looking after the less fortunate.

You as a Conservative can understand screwiing the less fortunate Most scientists that had major discoveries in the old days were all smokers so the theory is moot

Think of what those scientists could have accomplished had they been non-smokers. Besides, comparing those old guys (that didn't know the hazards) to people today (that do) is just a tad disingenuous.

In 1959 the nuns told me in grade 1 that smoking was bad for you .How old were those smoking scientists ?

... And where do the buyers of lottery tickets fit into this?

Somewhere between a vegetable and a bag of hammers?
my IQ has even decended below that...I keep saying I just need 1.5 million to retire. That's all I need to win.
How many lottery tickets do I buy per week.

Are non-smokers smarter than smokers?

Is it moral to hit those of lesser intelligence with a sin tax? Do you even believe the study?
sure it is and yes smoking could affect your IQ a bit since it deprives the brain of oxygen but really it is a moot point there was not that much discrepancy and our IQs can vary over the course of a life time but the depth of the pool can not at this time be deepened.

I'm not sure the study is saying that smoking affects your IQ, just that those of lesser IQ smoke.

meh risk takers are risk takers...there are so many factors which contribute to smoking besides IQ...also an IQ of 101 ain't great to begin with so what does that indicate about people with higher IQs who smoke? Nothing.

To tie it to IQ they need to get a mean of over all smokers...that won't happen.

yeah that's what people keep telling me so I buy one and then I don't win anything and I'm too cheap to buy another for years (literally) even my old mum used to mock me for that...she loved her little weekly ticket pool... it's like when I hit the casino with a 20 dollar bill, lost it all and was pizzed off for weeks that I was stupid enough to waste it. coulda had an awesome drink for that...coulda had a burger, coulda gone to a show, coulda, woulda, I get pizzy about stupid stuff.

I used to win just about every time on Wintario. Even a free book of tickets was four bucks more than I went in with. Best I won was $100. I pulled a cheapie with a birthday card and a ticket. It won a grand and I haven't won a thing since.

Bitch wouldn't even give me a pack of smokes in return....
