Obama, the former community organizer, against Putin, the former KGB agent. Doesn't seem like a fair fight to me. Only chance Obama has is to talk him to death...

Putin is reputed to have said, "Debating President Obama is like playing chess with a pigeon.... He struts around on the board knocking over the pieces..... SHlTS .... then acts like he won the game"

Does not sound like the former KGB agent has much regard for President Obama..... and President Obama's sanction plan seemed doomed to fail without Europe's support..... Europe that gets 20% of it's gas from Russia and could freeze next winter is not likely to support him..... to quote Oliver Hardy, "Here is another fine mess you got us into!"

Do you picture them solving this in some sort of one on one cage match?

If anything did actually come to violence, the US clearly has the greater military power, but it isn't like either side actually wants to get into WW3.

Well as far as the Chess board shows, Russia has Crimea.

Not sure what the USA is bitching about, like it never invaded Iraq or Afghanistan for US interests?? DUH!!

...and the people protesting are not being shot. The presence of Russian troops have stabilized the situation and stopped the violence.
Putin quotes internet memes?

Yes, bigger military and stuck fight insurgents in Iraq for how many years and how many deaths..

Now if Russia and the USA got into a squabble, do expect the USA to be fighting a war on several fronts, with Syria in the Middle East and maybe even China may join the party..

Besides, when it comes down to it... How Many Nukes Would It Take to Blow Up the Entire Planet? Both the USA and Russia have more than enough..

War with a country and fighting insurgents are different propositions. The issue in Iraq and Afghanistan was not in their ability to invade and occupy a country. It was with their efforts to try to impose a new, stable, government that wasn't just a straight up US occupation of the country.

That would be why neither side actually wants to get into a war.

Not sure if there is really a big difference between occupation or putting in a puppet leader as the USA has done with so many countries... Haiti, Panama with Noriega and Iraq with Saddam, and many other countries.

Well, I think their problem is that they actually tried to make a good faith effort to restore power to local people. The regions are so divided and damaged from all the conflict though that leaving things up to the locals tends to lead towards civil war. The US removed the existing power structure, and a lot of people with very different interests were interested in filling that vacuum.
