The day has drifted away from me and I see during my absence Cliffy has labeled me the anti-christ. Jeepers Cliffy.
Dood(ette), I was referring to myself. Are you being a little over sensitive? Not enough coffee?

Actually I can't go by page numbers as my display does newest posts first. That way I don't have to pick the last page posted in when I click on a thread. Soooooo, I'll just google the legal def'ns pf evidence. But anyway, I am pretty sure none of those def'ns will account for "spiritual evidence".In an earlier exchange, LG, you and I visited the definition of evidence. Do you remember the different types of legal evidence? Page #10 of this thread.

Legal Dictionary | Law.comn. every type of proof legally presented at trial (allowed by the judge) which is intended to convince the judge and/or jury of alleged facts material to the case. It can include oral testimony of witnesses, including experts on technical matters, documents, public records, objects, photographs and depositions (testimony under oath taken before trial). It also includes so-called "circumstantial evidence" which is intended to create belief by showing surrounding circumstances which logically lead to a conclusion of fact. Comments and arguments by the attorneys, statements by the judge and answers to questions which the judge has ruled objectionable are not evidence. Charts, maps and models which are used to demonstrate or explain matters are not evidence themselves, but testimony based upon such items and marks on such material may be evidence. Evidence must survive objections of opposing attorneys that it is irrelevant, immaterial or violates rules against "hearsay" (statements by a party not in court), and/or other technicalities.

admissible evidence | Wex Legal Dictionary / Encyclopedia | LII / Legal Information InstituteEvidence that is formally presented before the trier of fact (i.e., the judge or jury) to consider in deciding the case. The trial court judge determines whether or not the evidence may be proffered. To be admissible in court, the evidence must be relevant (i.e., material and having probative value) and not outweighed by countervailing considerations (e.g., the evidence is unfairly prejudicial, confusing, a waste of time, privileged, or based on hearsay). Also termed competent evidence; proper evidence; legal evidence.
Then law courts are, as well. And I am nowhere near as picky as courts. That brand of open-mindedness is certain to keep your eyes wide shut, LG : )
I refer to any kind of evidence. Be advised, however, that hearsay, anecdote, statements of personal feelings and beliefs, and statements from authorities, don't count as evidence. You refer to physical/material evidence?
Nah...Reading comprehension impairment and maybe more coffee needed.Dood(ette), I was referring to myself. Are you being a little over sensitive? Not enough coffee?
Evolution can't be affected (note spelling) in a positive or negative way. It is a process, a mechanism. Using terms like "positive" and "negative" simply demonstrates that you've fallen into the incorrect conclusion that evolution has a goal or a desired outcome. It doesn't. Evolution is very simple. There are millions of mutations occurring every day. Many are fatal, and thus never get passed on. Most do not increase or decrease the organism's ability to survive, and are thus indifferent and may or may not be passed on. A few are not fatal, but decrease the organism's ability to survive. They are less likely to get passed on. And a few increase the organism's ability to survive. They get passed on, and if the advantage they confer is strong enough, they spread throughout the population. What is the reasoning behind man having emotions that effect our evolution in a negative way?
I shall resist the temptation to make bad puns about sheds out of that.![]()
So the spirit is everywhere, not just god's but ours, or are you saying that location is a meaningless concept for the spirit? And clearly you are stating that it exists independently of the body it once inhabited. There's not a shred of evidence for that.
But anyway, I am pretty sure none of those def'ns will account for "spiritual evidence".
Quoting the bible to "prove" the accuracy of the bible is a textbook example of tautology.
The desire and capacity for self control is a feature of many non-Christian religions, and many systems of thought and practice that are not religious at all. Here is "Exhibit A" from our discussion thread, TBones:
"I shall resist the temptation to make bad puns about sheds out of that." (Dexter Sinister)
Recall that spiritual evidence is discernible in our conduct: "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control." (Galatians 5:22-23a NIV) The self-awareness, desire and capacity to self-control in the above statement made by Dex constitutes spiritual evidence. The influence of the Spirit of Christ is discernible here.
I'll let Dex answer that.I personally know of prayer being offered on Dex's behalf currently. Has there ever been any Christian presence/influence in your life, Dex?

Yes, there is. Evidence that demonstrates superior self control, such as foregoing instant gratification for longer-term gain.Is there evidence of their success, TBones? What kind of evidence is it?
Fear and anger have value. The rest don't.I don't know what you're asking. Could you be more specific, what emotions do you mean and how do they negatively affect our evolution?
Yeah, somebody's currently praying for me, though I don't know what's being asked for. Probably for god to remove the scales from my eyes or something similar. I grew up in a Christian household, got all the standard indoctrination, then threw it all away when I learned how to do my own thinking and realized it didn't make sense to me.I personally know of prayer being offered on Dex's behalf currently.
