No that's just my opinion.

Yours alone?

I'm all for giving people the opportunity to make a change without government intervention, but I don't think enough people are changing fast enough and the situation isn't likely to resolve itself. Especially if you have wealthy individuals on all sides of the political spectrum who enjoy a certain living standard.

Especially the ones that are calling for change and sacrifice but are unwilling to change or sacrifice themselves.

I have used this example once before.

I helped design a LEED and Green living development. The occupants were so excited and feeling great about it. They were doing something about this disaster. When they all moved in the complaints started arriving real quick.

"Where is the water pressure!"

Answer... That is the water pressure. You will no longer be able to have powerful showers and the water will run at a slow steady pace.

"Where is the heat!"

Answer... That is the heat. You will not be able to crank up the heat beyond 70F.

"Where is the lighting!"

Answer... That is the lighting and the bulbs that you will use. You will be able to see and the dimming is set for you.

"This sucks!"

Nobody said you would be able to have the same creature comforts when going green.

That's why I laugh at people who cling to the carbon footprint of these people as some kind of contradictory argument.

You have to laugh now because what else is left for you to say? There is no way to excuse or explain the hypocrisy away.

You're only reinforcing the point that there is a determinist element in all this and that our dependency on a limited resource outweighs our individual capacity to make any enforceable change.

Others want to determine the way others live and take money to give to others.

You alarmists have never been right. People against this scam have been.

Kyoto failed as we said it would. An ice free north pole... not.

I'm still wondering how admitting people cannot be environmentally responsible is supposed to convince me that we shouldn't have corrective measures that enforce such responsibility. Especially if that policy is based on a democratic decision where the government is simply representing its constituents.

It's a pretty simple concept really.

The people recognize they can't organize some kind of massive change on their own so they vote in a government to enact a uniform policy.

And?

Do we seize their property? Bank accounts? SUVs? Limit their travel?

Yet you give a pass to the individuals that bang the drum loudest.

How many McMansions does Suzuki own?

Point Grey Vancouver for he and his wife.... Can never have too much room for just 2 people, I say

Pretty nice, eh?

Wonder if he has RV parking for his big diesel bus.. 12 cylinders I'm told

Who says that humanity can 'correct' the system? You and the rest of the truthers are assuming that humanity has any real impact at all?

It's a gradual process.

We could either provide incentives or take punitive measures. It really depends on the scenario but the earlier we start, the easier the transition.

Would I want a carbon tax? Hell no.

But if we continue to take the asinine approach of looking away then that's exactly where this is heading.

Forget it.

You are not libertarian.

Dictatorship becomes you.

Would I want a carbon tax? Hell no.

I can see that! You want a heck of a lot more.

But if we continue to take the asinine approach of looking away then that's exactly where this is heading.

Where what is heading?

Dictator? Lol no.

Like I said it would be part of the agenda. In a perfect world we would have regular votes on issues and I would be all in favour for strengthening democracy.

This sh!t right here. ^

The arrogance from those that think, claim, insist that mankind 'do something' (for whatever the latest pet eco-project is) is laughable. In a hundred thousand years when man is gone there might be some plastic bits left, but the earth will be just fine.

BUSTED!!!

Fair enough, I'll eat it on that one. I can admit when I'm wrong.

So, Captain Morgan is now at least half as accurate as a broken clock. Let's see if he can make another one before the end of the day. The claim about zero correct predictions is about as out there as Maslowski's comments about 2013.

Democracy is arrogance?

You enforce free market policy decisions on a regular basis. Those decisions are employed by the same government you have elected into office. They have been democratically given that power and there is nothing arrogant about the arrangement, though our democracy could use a bit of fine tuning.

Like developing nations making a mandate for developed nations to give them billions? That type?

Yeah, that's what I said. Sure sure.

Annnnyways, a small minority of earth's population says to do this or that...right on man. Oh, and if you think you live in a democracy, think again.

No doubt... An excellent example of this arrogance is in the quoted post below. It's as if the individual believes that there was only one example of poor science and inaccuracy.

Whatever the policy, whether you personally like it or not, should have some democratic foundation.

Even if I prefer we take a certain approach, I do so with the hopes that we have some mutual consensus.

John Kerry is a poser who got rich through serial marriage. He's an elitist. His opinion is of no importance. His trip to China accomplished nothing because the Chinese gave him nothing but empty words.

There it is--right on cue. The classic "Al Gore is fat therefore climate change is a bunch of crap" argument! Called it--Awesome!

Democracy is really just democracy in it's current form. That is to say, of course it could be better. A direct and proportional democracy is probably more accountable than a representative democracy in its current form.

Al Gore was exposed for the various lies he spewed in his quest to corner the market on carbon trading.

You really should have chosen a better target to use in support of your belief system... No one is a worse example than Gore

Actually, some pretty good data to back up that assumption. And some good science too. But whenever we go there it's back to railing agianst Al Gore or David Suzuki. Indeed, your politics seems more driven by bile and bitterness than anything else. The need to get back at someone. I just don't get it.

Assumptions and what equates to a handful of data points (relative to the global, historical experience) means less than nothing in comparison to the historical realities of weather/climate on the globe.

Ironic that you deem my position is driven by 'bile and bitterness'... Hardly the case, as I can point quite comfortably to history, whereas you truthers have nothing but 'assumptions' upon which to found your religion.

Quite honestly, your response seems to be motivated by your own bile and bitterness... Possibly has to do with the knowledge that you are refusing to face the reality that you have been horribly wrong all this time?

.. I'll leave that for you and your therapist to delve into
