It wasn't his homosexuality that killed him, it was his sexual promiscuity. Gay or straight, the amount of different partners (with unprotected sex no less)would have increased the odds that he would get a STD.

Do we know that for sure? I did hear one figure quoted back in the 80s and that was 87% of those suffering with AIDS at the time were homo sexual.

Again, that was due to the promiscuity back then. Safe sex just wasn't practiced as much back then, and many of those cases were probably discovered too late to do them any good.

Not sure if we could assume that with certainty in Rock's case. He may have had a steady committed partner, I rather doubt he was picking up guys off the street. -

And a lot of times the roles dry up because of the announcement. Not all the actors/actresses have the clout of Jodie Foster after all. I would think, if anything, the timing of it is to coincide with the Olympics in Russia than for publicity to garner more roles.

And the promiscuity was a part of the times for both gay and straight although people would say it wasn't...plus the fact that no one knew how AIDs was spread.

I have known 'gay people, actually just a few guys and I knew them from early grade school (2 or 3) and while sexual preference was unknown to us, or at least me until much later it seemed these 2 were set in their ways and there was never much discussion about it once we were in high school.


While they never 'acted' upon their urges with any of us I recall discussing it with my parents and they simply said 'some people are born that way'.


Seems they were onto something a long time ago...........
