gerry: YES. I thought you said you were a Christian? Do you not know the teachings of your Lord? Perhaps, you have not even read the Bible. God has offered his Grace, why have people not graciously welcomed and accepted the free gift? In their own eyes they flatter themselves too much to detect or hate their sin. Gerry: For starters, there is no such thing as luck. Tell me, why do you call yourself a Christian when you oppose so many of Christ's teachings?

"I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves." (Matthew 10:16 NIV)

Beavs - I hold to the opinion that God is very capable of keeping and defending his Word throughout the ages. Scripture is truth. I understand that many on this forum deny that the Bible is the Word of God. I know you and others cite other texts, different authors etc. Of course, if the Word of God is not considered an evidence and even the Apostle Paul is cursed among you, we shall never agree. Nevermind Spurgeon, Luther Augustine, Tozer and the like. I suppose they too were in gross error. Good Grief! Certainly the devil is known for deception and false doctrine. But, often times what is suggested here on this forum has gone beyond deceit. It is pure madness. Oddly, many do not to wish to let go of our Scriptural Jesus. You toss him into the mix. For what, a saftey net? Express your opinions, share your theology, but don't imagine that the Son of God taught what you teach here.

Scripture is ancient truth in allegory, this guarded the wisdom from the unworthy, those who could not penetrate to the hidden meaning. You only suppose you've read the bible and you seem to have no idea whatever of it's origins. Those old guys employed very sophisticated securities against just such as you.
Every human is a son of the intelligent god and every child contains a fragment of that god the bread of life.

Gilbert: You said:
Someone a while back said that Jesus wasn't to be accepted by reason and fact (or something along those lines), though, because that's where faith steps in. To me, that is a kind of excuse for people to stick their imagination in where their logic and reason fail. At that point, one can say absolutely anything they wish and consider it the truth and even fact (even to the point of ignoring the definition of fact).

Gilbert: That is why God keeps and guards his WORD. If we do not have the WORD, then anything goes. And from the looks of this forum, everything has gone.
By "WORD", I am guessing you mean the Bible. Not sure where everything goes, though. If you mean gone off-topic, I say it has indubitably. But such is the way of forums.

"That is why God keeps and guards his WORD. If we do not have the WORD" - cj44

A benevolent god would not stifle human development, intelligence and creativity by making up all these silly rules. A god capable of creating the Universe would not be so insecure as to be jealous and demanding humans worship it. If anything, something like a fallen angel, perhaps would do such things. "Lucifer so deceived the human race that he convinced them he was god".

Knock on doors, and be like a child, open and innocent.
I think that is what is really meant when they say "born again" - to become as a child, filled with wonder and joy at all the endless variety of things to see and learn. I really think "born againers" missed the boat because they were so busy stuffing their minds in the suitcase.

Try keeping it open as opposed to putting it in a BOX.

A very hard thing to do ain't it, but well worth the effort.

Is there any personal danger inherent in that type of vulnerability, DB? If so, how does one guard against it?

The greatest of personal dangers and pain, without which there is no gain, but every little kernel of accumulated truth builds the shield against the evil of ignorance. It's a common teaching in all the ancient works. I used to boast about having read the bible cover to cover and condemned it as drivel but a few years ago I learned that I could have read it a hundred times and still not seen any sense in it if not for the help from ten thousand years ago from the minds of long dead sages. Without them none of us have a chance of eating the real fruit. Now as unlikely as it may seem to you I am being born again standing on the shoulders of the ancient wise masters and I don't mind saying that the bible stories are revealed to me as beautiful logic through them, the ancients. If you look in The Book of The Dead you will find all of those stories in far greater detail and thousands of years closer to the actual birth of Christ. If you are enamoured of those stories now you will be doubly entertained by the older more complete versions. Christianity did not begin with the character Jesus.

Are you familiar with the book of life referenced in Revelation 3, 13, 17, 20, 21, DB?
