They probably are just coming to sell more tin foil hats.
Such cynicism is not healthy. I believe in nothing that I do not personally experience but I leave my mind open to all possibilities. Life is not much fun if one narrows the possibilities to just a few. One might miss the opportunity to experience an event one cannot accept as real.

Or notice the obvious.

Former Canadian defence minister claims aliens refuse to share technology because of Earth’s wars, pollution

Paul Hellyer: Aliens would share technology if earth stopped wars

Former Canadian defence minister Paul Hellyer, the so-called highest-ranked alien believer on Earth, says that extraterrestrials live among us and they refuse to share their advanced technology due to wars and pollution.

Hellyer, who was a Liberal defence minister from 1963 to 1967 under prime minister Lester B. Pearson, went public with his belief in aliens on earth in 2005.

Hellyer, 90, told Russia Today last week that he believes there are 80 different species of extraterrestrials, some of whom “look just like us and they could walk down the street and you wouldn’t know if you walked past one.

“I would say that nearly all are benign and benevolent and they do want to help us, there may be one or two species which do not.”

Hellyer described a cosmos similar to that of Star Trek and says that there is a “federation” of aliens that has a rule to not interfere in our affairs — the same as Trek’s “prime directive.”

He adds that the aliens are rather unimpressed with us earthlings.

“They don’t think we are good stewards of our planet, we’re clear cutting our forests, we’re polluting our rivers and our lakes, and we’re dumping sewage in the oceans, and we’re doing all sorts of things which are not what good stewards of their homes should be doing,” he said.

Ya think Paul is maybe starting to "lose it"?

Still crazy after all these years.
Yep. I met Hellyer in the spring of 1974 when I was a student in Edmonton. He wasn't obviously the full blown wacko then that he is now, but I thought at the time that he was getting a bit eccentric. He was there to promote some half-witted new political party he thought could replace either the Liberal or Progressive Conservative parties of the day, he was never quite clear on which. He's run under both party's banners, and in response to a question about the differences between them he offered possibly the stupidest, shallowest answer I've ever heard, to an audience that consisted mostly of graduate students in economics, political science, and history, who knew immediately the guy was trying to sell an empty barrel as a full one.

And the unification of the armed forces... well, nobody who understands anything about what's important to successful military units would ever think that was a good idea.

Yep, I often wonder if it isn't a very fine line between stupidity and brilliance. In British Columbia 40 years ago there was a brilliant doctor (he's still alive I think) who was a member of the Social Credit Party, but crazier than a sh*t house rat.

P.S. I just did a little reading up on him in Wikipedia, maybe just crazy in one aspect, but obviously a very brilliant man, still alive at age 86.

I think we are aliens to this planet. We don't seem to have any other connection to it except what we can take from it. I think we were genetically engineered by aliens from one of our humanoid ancestors using their own DNA. If we were actually natural to Earth we would not be so hell bent on destroying it.

So you don't believe the Titanic sunk or that WWII happened?
I've seen live film footage of both, so ya, they happened. anything that supposedly happened before that - British Empire, Rome, ect., well, it is irrelevant to me.

I believe in extra-terrestrial life somewhere. Some of it intelligent. Some probably capable of limited space flight. However, I think inter-stellar travel is rather improbable if not impossible.

So this guys notion of them visiting us and not sharing technology is ludicrous. As is the idea they look like us. They would have evolved on completely different worlds. Odds are they would look different.

And even assuming that is all true, why the f-uck would they visit us? What would they have to gain aside from a supply of raw materials. If somebody does visit us, it will be to steal all our resources not in some sort of benevolent act. But the odds are still astronomically small.

- just because we can't visit planets doesn't mean they can't.

- they could have evolved on a planets similar to earth which means that they could look similar to us.

- there are some that don't look like us.

His age has nothing to do with why I said it was scary, the idea that he could have chosen to make war with his imaginary aliens is what was scary.

And his age has nothing to do with his belief in aliens? Sorry, but, I've seen relatives slip into paranoia and dementia in their later years, when it wasn't there earlier. What he believes is happening at 90 years old, is not a reflection of what he thought when he was younger and in a position of power.

I believe Hellier has been talking about aliens for quite a few years.Seems to me I heard him at least 10 years ago, if not longer. Some of the US astronauts have gone public with the same info 30 ears ago.

If you have a Rand MacNalley road map of New Mexico handy, look it up. You will find in the middle of the huge air force based identified on there a small orange square marked "Space Port". What is a port but a point of trade?

From what little I've read about the man, he did have beliefs about the existence of aliens 40 years ago. -:)
