Wow they were getting ready to ask the mayor only after going to the deputy mayor and finding that he didn't have authority despite their cope. Why do you always leave that part out ?

I am not clear on what you think that ads to the story? They went to Ford because he is the only person who can make the call.

Wouldn't the Province need the Province's resources for the rest of the Province?

Declaring an emergency gives the city the ability to offload the costs on the Province and the Feds.

From Ford's angle it makes it look like too many services were axed and that the city is incapable of handling something as simple as winter.

This seems like another argument that he is putting himself before the city.

Indeed it does BUT there was no benefit to the GTA to go through the embarrassment of having to call in outside resources like when calling in the army for so called Canadian city that can't cope with winter.

If Ford had called an emergency the left would be howling about the waste of resources and that this wasn't a real emergency.

I guess snorting crack, hanging with the unsavory and just acting like an azz in general is apolitical...which is great to note for future discussions.

seriously...I am surprised...you have posted here non-stop...threads are for discussion purposes (until people start making personal quips), I would love to see threads shut down when members begin to discuss other members or have those parts removed but we don't...

do you not see what you are suggesting as a form of censoring?

and so are you.

of course it is apolitical. At no time is any of the above normal behavior for politicians.

yes I don't disagree with what you have said here...still it is a rule I would like to see enforced as I believe the behaviour adds no value to a thread.

if he were left leaning it would have been brought forward as typical amoral left behaviour

There's just no way of pleasing everyone, Walter!

The title of the thread is an allusion to the funny comments made by Kanye West about George Bush's handling of Katrina.

I really don't care how Ford personally feels about his situation as mayor. Anyone with the tiniest amount of respect for the job and respect for themselves would have stepped down and gotten themselves help long ago. Nobody created this stupid situation other than Ford himself.

In your opinion!

The newspapers force Ford to smoke crack?
'parently... I am frankly shocked at the defense for Ford that just continues in spite of proof to the contrary...I don't wish him ill, but he is fuked up beyond belief...no wonder we end up with politicians who fuk us over....we just bend over and take it and thank them for it...if he swings our way, let's just defend him regardless of how bad they present or the evidence uncovered....let's just blame everyone but him...

fuking, scares me

as for him caring about the people of TO...no one as messed up as he is, thinks clearly about anything other than their next fix or their next press encounter...clue in folks...he is mentally unstable...if you want him to govern you, well...have at it...you get what you deserve.

No one is defending the Ford we are just sick of the overkill by CBC Toronto Star Born Ruff et al .
Mayor of London Ontario on corruption charges for misuse of public funds, Corruption in Quebec politics and Ontario wasting billions on hydro cancellations all receive little or no coverage but the Ford is front and center for 2 months .To me that is overkill .And the pack of braying hounds yelling accusations at him all in the name of unbiased news reporting was sickening regardless of your politics .
You end up with politicians who fuk you over for one reason and one reason only .You believe the CBC and Toronto Star and all the b.s. they sell as news .

The "accusations" as some liked to call them have all been shown to be correct. I know they sound bad, but that is because Ford does a lot of bad things.

You can't blame the media for Ford having way too many skeletons in and out of his closet.

There's just no way of pleasing everyone, Walter!

Yay, more folksy sayings.

Any time you want to switch to actually dealing with the facts of this situation, that would be swell.

If Ford had called an emergency the left would be howling about the waste of resources and that this wasn't a real emergency.

If you are going to boil this down to petty right vs left politics, you think that the left would have any problem with something that removed Rob Ford from the equation?

that is not how the threads read, in fact there was denial, denial, denial, , just browse through the threads here, malicious, personal, demeaning accusations, because hero boy fell and hard..lack of proof everyone kept belly aching. Yeah okay if that's what passes for good politics on the right, it sure is eye opening.

wow for one reason and one reason only, I can think of five reasons right off and the press isn't on the top five...but there is only one according to you. Well now I have six, without even trying.

Except for perhaps wally and BL no one here meets the criteria of being far right. Mostly around the center with somewhat more right on fiscal matters.

I don't think it's so much a matter of defending Ford, at least for myself I have no problem that he could be F**ked up and I have no problem with his smoking crack, but too many people just jump on the band wagon because of what they've been told by the media and that's where the problem lies. The media themselves have got some pretty nefarious habits and ones that are worse than smoking crack, so I just don't necessarily happen to believe everything they spew out. But let's for sake of argument agree that the media has got everything right, to keep dwelling on one or two aspects of Ford when OTHER issues come up is a little overkill. When your kid gets caught playing hooky from school you deal with that misdemeanor but you don't keep bringing it up during all his/her other activities. People should try concentrating more on Ford's good qualities. I'm afraid we've gotten to the point where we let crack define the man.

There, you've homed in on the crux of the matter. We just need to get the prigs out of the issue!

Lol, you still wont accept that YOU were the one who brought up the crack issue in this thread?

It is really despicable to attack other people with zero evidence of wrongdoing just to deflect from someone who has done a ton of things wrong but you happen to like.

If you think the media have actually done something wrong, be specific and say what it is.

And honestly, you keep showing that you don't know much about this situation. Nobody is judging Ford just for doing crack. If you have seen even a small portion of what he has been doing over the past month or two, you would know that.

really, I see moderates as being willing to support the homeless and kids who go hungry...according to conversations I've had here, they are lazy and who cares about the kids because it's all the mother's fault...I see that opinion on here frequently no?
