REmind me to show this to the two journeyman native carpenters I worked with for the last 8 months. Both live in the Vancouver area although their native lands are elsewhere.

Who creates this huge tax handout? About half of my family create none of it but have gotten lots over the years, enough to move ahead but they are still stuck in loserville. People (humans that is) who have not heard the BS that comes from entitled losers, or ignore it for whatever reason ............

Hey, I've never said the system was perfect. Gawd knows there's ton of room for improvement, all the way around. That's why I've always pushed for open, honest policing of the money and how it moves, and a strong form of accountability in governance.

Here on the Prairie the gangs have worked their way onto or are running Band Councils.

Using SK as an example. When 59,366 square kilometres out of 591,670 are FN lands, that is mainstream. 10% of the population has 10% of the land under control.

I meant gang members.
The educated women are the gang members making it on Council.

That's great. Do 60% have jobs and pay taxes? Did they pay for their own education like I did?
In this neck of the woods yeah. There is opportunity for everybody and it's being taken by those women and men too.

As for the men who dropped out and are unemployed, go drop in on a GED class in SK and take a look at who is getting off their asses and moving into trades.

For the Union haters watch for an FN Labour Union coming to a Province near you.

about time. Nothing in the artical indicated if they could sell to non band members. Is there a covenent or regulations about this?

I would have no qualms about paying taxes to the First Nation if I bought property on their land.

Now I could see the issue of some indigenous people fearing getting swarmed, a little along the same idea of Canadians opposing immigration for similar reasons.

One possibility would be a bicameral government where only status members of the nation in question could vote for one level, while all residents could vote for the second, with any law or bilaw having proposal having to pass through both. This could allay the fear of getting 'swarmed' while still allowing more openness.

Just a brainstorm.

That is cool. I'm all for people taking control of their lives and taking opportunity to make something of themselves through hard work.

Any person who gets off their a$$ and works hard for a living gets my respect regardless of race, creed, color!

I don't support any union. Never had unions on any of my construction sites and would prefer not to have any in the patch. I think unions have outlived their actual usefulness and are no more than organized crime these days.

you said unions have outlived their usefulness not so. When the next economic
downturn comes and its coming to a corner of the world near you soon, unions
will regain their strength because the recession will last for more than a decade.
I have been both a union leader and a general manager of in the private sector.
Even as a manager I preferred a union it brings balance.
As a farmer I now work mostly alone and its dull with no one to argue with.
As for the current issue at hand, the Native Peoples are looking at this from one
aspect the white folks can't wait to attempt to seduce the Natives with the greed
affliction and I think that just might not happen.
