The only crop I'm growing is my mustache and it down past my chin. Thanks for asking anyway. How is your crop coming along Cliffy?
Dams aren't. Between all the mercury contaminated fish, the cut off wildlife migratory paths, the destroyed habitat, the destroyed farmland, they're an environmental disaster.

The people of BC in majority don't want Enbridge anywhere near this Province.
Most support others but not Enbridge. Many do not want the tankers in tight
water conditions either especially Enbridge. I am not a tree hugger and I am
not especially against pipelines but I have no respect for Enbridge.
Kinder Morgan is a reputable company not Enbridge.
The other thing is we the people in majority don't want Northern Gateway and
that is our right. By the way we also regard the harbours is ours not everyones
The three companies responsible for a 2007 oil spill in a residential area in Burnaby, B.C., entered guilty pleas in Vancouver on Monday.
Two contractors and Trans Mountain Pipeline, the company that owns the pipeline, each entered guilty pleas under a 21-count indictment in B.C. Provincial Court.
Big deal. You realize those "tight waters" are all dead from sodium fluoride from ALCAN. How many in BC know that Enbridge bought out Conoco and that it's the old Conoco lines and clean up crews that are the problem? Did you know that?
Kinder Morgan also has a checkered past when it comes to pipeline safety, they've had an number of spectacular failures, one in the middle of Burnaby a few years back.

I have a hard time blaming the 2007 spill on Trans Mountain. Sure, they should have groundtruthed their pipeline route, but buddy operating the backhoe was the real culprit. (For those of you who don't know the main pressureized Kinder Morgan crude line was busted open in Burnaby near Vancouver Harbour by a backhoe driver hitting it repeadly. Ting Ting -- "What's that ringing sound?" -- Ting Ting -- "Can you guys here that?" -- Ting Ting). And they are a hard-nosed bunch but the response to that spill was actually pretty good.
What are the odds of a tanker crashing and making the "localized " sodium fluoride problems and dioxins worse for the poor natives who shop at Overwaitea than the lay-offs from plant closures they've already experienced? No they aren't, petros. There's some localized contamination. The pulp mill tainting the eulachon fish (which the natives like) was a bigger problem. And dioxins and furans were a problem with the old pulp mill. But the mill has shut down now. (Ironically the natives were all bent out of shape when the mill closed, becasue the mill had been shooting them a bunch of cash in compensation for the eulachon tainting--go figger). But the entire arm is teeming with life. There's shellfish fisheries, salmon fisheries, orcas, humpbacks..
From what I recall they'd had a foggy idea of where the line even was, that doesn't sound like very sound operating procedure for a serious pipeline company.
Burnaby wasn't the only accident for them.

When you get the same thing happening repeatedly at some point it stops being an accident.
Like most accidents, it was a cascade failure involving several parties, including Kinder Morgan.
Here's the Transportation Safety Board summary if you need a sleeping pill:
Transportation Safety Board of Canada - Pipeline Investigation Report P07H0040
Before the start of construction on July 16, the contractor noted a discrepancy between the location of the Westridge Pipeline as shown near DM 20 on the design drawing and its location on another construction drawing from previous work. The consultant was also made aware of this discrepancy. A KMC inspector was requested to locate the pipeline in the vicinity of DM 20 before the start of any excavation work. At this point, KMC became aware of the start of construction on Inlet Drive within both the 3 m restricted area and the 30 m safety zone around Westridge Pipeline. In spite of this fact, KMC did not request the required on-site pre-construction meeting.
