You have to separate the occupation from the invasion. You go in , topple the Hussein's, tell some less vile power chieftain to run the place better and 'work toward Democracy', then leave.
The military wanted to leave some troops behind to keep the peace but BHO was too smart for that.

The "peace" they were keeping wasnt much different from the state Iraq is in now. Seeing as it didnt make much difference except to the troops involved pulling them out seems like the smart thing to do.

Yep, and it's all Obama's fault. We should have FORCED them to accept bases.

The Kanadian Klansman is off in his own little world again.

I'd go with KlanChild. Special needs KLanChild..

Hey, Walt, remember when six board members two weeks ago tried and failed to patiently explain the difference between Antarctic Sea and land ice to you?:p

Neo-cons go nuts when they see how far Ronald Reagan has fallen down the totem poll (barely in the top half now) After the Republican libertarian wing has named Aircraft Carriers and Airports and think tanks after him.. people still see him a zonked out, well meaning but hopelessly befuddled dolt.. a charicature of a President.. a puppet for libertarian interests..

So this is how the libs console themselves. lol

I've said elsewhere that Reagan wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed. Nonetheless, he was the man who recognised that the only threat the U.S. had ever faced since the early 1800s that actually had the ability to destroy or conquer the U.S. had to be stopped, that the balance of the Cold War couldn't last, and he put enough pressure on the Soviet Union to stress the flaws in their political and economic model until it fell apart.

There were no great big battles, but that was the most important conflict of the 20th century. Not WWII.

And the two Presidents who were key to the West winning it were the two lefties love to hate most (before Bush): Nixon and Reagan.

I actually approved of the invasion. Not the satrapy.

The way it went was: You go in, hire some thugs to lynch Hussein. I don't say Saddam was a great guy but did he deserve to be lynched any more than GW Bush? Bin Laden got about the same sort of "trial".

I think to get a valid answer for that you should ask the Kurds, preferably ones who lost a son/daughter, mother/father, sister/brother!

The lefties don't have a monopoly on hating Nixon.

I doubt there is a Kurd in Iraq who didnt.

He got more of a trial than any of his victims got. When George Bush became President he didnt go to congress and have someone who had been tortured read out the names of those involved in a fictional plot against him, then had them taken out and shot by those not named. Saddam did. There are major differences between men like Saddam Hussein or Bin Laden and George Bush.

Yep, I think most people with half a brain realize that. I know our leaders in N.A. can be a little dense at times but I wish the ones who make them out to be worse than Saddam, Idi Amin, Sukarno, Pot Pol etc. would move to one of those countries, try things out for awhile in Somalia, Uganda, Syria etc.

After you read his writings you'll realize he was a very bight man.

Did he get caught in the bight?

GW is just hated by the left because that is what they do. The next Republican President will be hated just as much and considered just as corrupt. That is the new way down here.

Probably because odds are that he/she will be crooked and incompetent. Look at the pi$$ poor candidates and wingnuts they had to compete with Obama.

And Hitler and Stalin killed more than any of them, but still 30,000 a year is quite a toll don't you think?

Yep, in those days it was who you knew more than what you knew even more so than it is today.

I don't think any of our presidents wined and dined them with the type of fanfare Ford used for the genocidal Suharto or Reagan did for Rios-Montt.

Now that Obama is President... LOL

Obama = highest corporate profits since 1900

funny how the delusional forum wannabes would have called that "success" had it been achieved by a Republican but see that as "failure" for Obama
