George Zimmerman, who has been in hiding since he was acquitted of murder in the death of Trayvon Martin, emerged to help rescue someone who was trapped in an overturned truck, police said today.

Sanford Police Department Capt. Jim McAuliffe told ABC News that Zimmerman “pulled an individual from a truck that had rolled over” at the intersection of a Florida highway last week. Florida Highway Patrol is now handling the case, McAuliffe said.

The crash occurred at the intersection of I-4 and route 417, police said.

It’s the first known sighting of Zimmerman since he left the courtroom following his acquittal last week on murder charges for the death of Martin. Zimmerman, 29, shot and killed Martin, 17, in Sanford, Fla., on Feb. 26, 2012. The jury determined that Zimmerman shot Martin in self-defense.

You can be sure the lamestream media don't want to be reporting on this - not a good George story - no way.

I don't blame them if they don't report on it.

My grandfather once rescued a man who'd been in a car accident, and had become entangled in the seal of his old fashioned windshield. It was strangling him, and my grandfather had the presence of mind and humanity to cut him free.

Was he a good man?

He did a good thing.

To that one man he saved perhaps. But, saving that man didn't change the effect of the many, many, horrid things he did. It didn't change his molesting me, it didn't change the broken bones my grandma suffered, it didn't change the emotional abuse and scars left on his kids, his grandkids, and other family who had to deal with being in his sphere of influence.

So will the 'lamestream media' avoid painting Zimmerman in the hero light? Yeah, they just very well might in the proximity of his shooting someone.

In this case it might be the last thing some people want to hear but at the end of the day he did a good deed. 'Nuff said.

If it was enough that he did a good deed, it wouldn't have straight away been turned into how the 'lamestream media' won't want to report on it.

Thank goodness for niche news like ABC to bring it to light I suppose.

This one good deed done does not make him a saint nor does one aleggedly bad dead make him a devil. Since the media has made George a celeberity, I think they should report it.

karrie, your grandad sounded to be more bad than good. But he did a good dead. One event does not cancel the others. Both should be remembered when forming an opinion of him. From what you have posted, I think you have formed the correct opinion.

Like I said, he's probably a nice guy, but after the schmozzle over the past year or so, he's likely going out of his way to prove that to everyone. IMO, he wants desperately to be some sort of hero.
Naturally, there'll be the pro-Zimmerman people raving about his sainthood and others that will be ranting about conspiracies, the news media making wheelbarrows full of money by sensationalizing every little aspect of the dude's life, etc.

I once helped someone out of an overturned van. I wasn't in the news. I've often wondered why, but now I realize it's because I didn't kill a child beforehand. Well, if that's the price of fame for doing a good deed, no thank you.
