I don't know a single black man who doesn't have many stories of being followed around by store employees, having people avoid them on the streets, lock their car doors when they walk by, call the police, &c.

I guess every one of them is delusional, whining, or lying, because we've established that race is never, ever a factor.

Northern Ontario,
this is not a game call...a kid is dead...that may mean nothing to the team you perceive yourself as having hooked onto, but some other people feel that there was an injustice that occurred here, a sadness that a young man is dead, ... it's not bitching... bitching is something you do about the heat, not the taking of another human life

seems to me some people don't like the discussion they should get out of the thread instead of 'bitching' about the people that still want to discuss this horrible tragedy

this is a big deal, a very big deal it is not cut and dried
Your opinion......and your high falutin' attitude will not change the outcome, so, take a breath and relax.

O BS. Hundreds of kids are dead. No one seems to care about the others. Like Hannity said to the guy the other night, name one kid of the hundred who was killed in Chicago since the Martin shooting, JUST ONE! Of course, he couldn't, not even one. I respect that your heart is in the right place about a tragic occurrence, but please, give me a break. People couldn't care less about Trayvon, they're just exploiting the opportunity to advance their own causes.

Why did it take so long for this to become known?

Just lost in all the too-many details I imagine. It's not new.

Like TM's autopsy/liver results, codeine cocktails, Twitter, Facebook and MySpace accounts. People didn't bother to look 'em up or dismissed them out of hand if they hampered their argument. Who knows.

I suppose if he wasn't officially anything then he was under no compulsion to follow the 'rules' of said group.

It would be better if people refrained from using terms like "kid", "infant", "child" in this case. Such words only stir up emotions. "Youth", I suppose might be more acceptable!

Stirring up emotions is the whole point though. That's what sells ads.

This thing blew up from the start with the shooting of an unarmed black "youth" by a "white" (as originally reported). It soon became imbued with all teh significance of the treachorous black-white race relations in the US. Consequently, it was no longer about Trayvon Martin or George Zimmerman. They were no more than avatars for the larger battle being played.

Your opinion......
of course it is my opinion, whose opinion would I post but my opinion? Don't you post your opinion...that's what I thought we were discussing

and your high falutin' attitude
' scuse me? oh wait, I get it...you don't like to be addressed directly when you are mocking others...it makes things uncomfortable unless you can hide behind your group , would that be right?
will not change the outcome,
you are correct, what's done is done, but unless we dialogue this, people will think this is okey dokey ... it is not a okay with everyone.

so, take a breath and relax.
I'm super relaxed thanks, my conscience is clear and I know what I think about what happened and how i feel about it. And I am not bitching, but I do appreciate your concern.

he was not on trail... he was the victim... he is dead maybe something positive could emerge from this instead of a some "side" winning because if that is all this is about, we have all lost.

So has Zimmerman......even if he hadn't been charged and gone through this circus pushed by media and politically motivated people...and a population of sheeple ..It's not something he will forget for the rest of his life.....

Hmm. . . think I just heard some rolling thunder.

As long as we know where you stand.
Hey, when have you ever heard me express sympathy for dead losers?

Stack 'em up like cordwood, sez I. Fire, famine, disease, starvations, mur- um. . . hom- um. . . completely justified unfortunate tragic self-defence tragedy, whatever thins the herd a little.

good to know that between the inflammatory little jabs that you toss out, you actually get the severity of the situation here...if Zimmerman has a conscience he won't he has lost big time, he showed poor judgement and killed another human being... it's that simple and that complex, none the less he is still alive and the problems resulting from this act of violence continue to heat up

perhaps their cause is good, and perhaps it will advance it and if so good, something good should come out of this tragedy

He didn't show bad judgement...Trayvon did when he attacked him.....

Professor Barack 'I Am Trayvon' Obama Gets 'Stand Your Ground' Law Wrong

In his unfortunate remarks about the Zimmerman verdict Friday, Obama said something about "stand your ground" laws that reflects popular misconceptions seen on social media--hardly befitting a law "professor":
And for those who resist that idea that we should think about something like these “stand your ground” laws, I just ask people to consider if Trayvon Martin was of age and armed, could he have stood his ground on that sidewalk? And do we actually think that he would have been justified in shooting Mr. Zimmerman, who had followed him in a car, because he felt threatened?
The answer is no. No one may use lethal force, either under "Stand Your Ground" laws or classic self-defense doctrine, without a reasonable fear of "death or great bodily harm to himself or herself or another." Merely feeling "threatened" is not enough. Martin's fear, based on the evidence, would have been unreasonable.

Obama should know better. And he probably does. The only purpose for distorting the law here is to make a racial argument--namely, that "if a white male teen was involved in the same kind of scenario, that, from top to bottom, both the outcome and the aftermath might have been different," as Obama said. To his discredit.

hm interesting, the head of the Tea Party embarrassed himself when he commented upon it by saying he had never been attacked but then he backed up and told the truth. The guy is a jerk off but when he saw everyone else was attempting to be level and reasonable he backed off and became human... I was impressed.
